The Girl

Jace   I like to go to Wellspring every night. Wellspring is like a hidden gem. It's a small beach town that is right up against the Atlantic, and for reasons I do not know, this town doesn't have much tourism. No tourists, no noise. This place is the perfect town and the sounds of the waves make it very peaceful. My pack is about an hour run from here, so it's commutable. I take a small bag in between my jaws and run to town. I change along the edge of the trees, and I, basically, get a beach to myself. I can go for a swim or a run. I come here for peace. At least, that is what I like to tell myself and others.  Deep down, I know why I keep going there. I go there for my mate. I have desperately searched for her without any luck. When I turned twenty-two, I had decided that I would go to a witch named Sera. She owns a novelty shop in Wellspring. She told me I could borrow her amulet for a hefty price but it would lead me to my mate. I had to pay half the cash upfront. Only after getting paid did she tell me that she misplaced it. She said she had some spell to help her find it, and it would be worth it. So I spent my nights swimming, running, and occasionally pestering Sera about the amulet. Two years have passed, and I am about to lose my mind. I find my Beta, Max, and my Gamma, Trevor. They are sitting in the common room and playing FIFA soccer on 85' inch TV. Neither of them have found their mates either, so I know I could motivate them. Well, at least, I could motivate Max. Trevor has decided he would sleep with any girl that looks his way "to be ready" for his mate. He doesn't seem to be in any hurry to find his mate.  "Alright boys, it's time to find our other halves!" "Jace. Relax. Enjoy life. You are good looking. You have a college degree. You are running a pack. You are running a business. I am pretty sure any one of those qualifications will make those panties drop," Trevor responds. "Trevor, just because you don't want a mate, doesn't mean we don't. A mate completes and compliments you in every way...something we need for leading our pack. Grow the f**k up!” Max retorts. Trevor rolls his eyes. "All the girls think I am fully grown," he replies with a smirk.  Idiot. I didn't have time for his s**t.  "Max, you know I have been going to Sera for the amulet for two years, but she lost track of it. I can’t believe she has strung me along for so long! I am going to check one last time tonight. If she doesn't have it, I am through with her. We need to start looking elsewhere," I say, the frustration is evident in my voice. It wasn’t a command but it was enough to get both of their attention.  "Yes, Alpha," Trevor jokes. I give him a death glare. "I do have a suggestion. The Shadow Moon pack is having a party. It's supposed to be for unmated wolves only. So, we can either find our mates or I can get laid with some beautiful, single shewolves. It's a win-win," Trevor continues.   "Trevor, I think that's the first useful thing you have ever said in your life. When is the party?" Max asks.  "Tonight," Trevor responds. Shit. I had to go see Sera before this party.  "How far is their pack?" I ask.  "It's an hour run if we shift. You basically have to take a ferry from Wellspring. The have their own private island," Trevor says.  "Alright, meet me at the W hotel in two hours. I will get us rooms. We can change and take the ferry over," I tell them.   "Yes, Alpha," they both say in unison. Again, it wasn't a command but my best friends are complete jerks.  I roll my eyes but can't help but laugh along with them. At least they kept me laughing.  ******************************************** I shift and grab my bag, in which I had already put some clothes in. Sean, my wolf, takes off as fast as he can. He's been without a mate for six years now; so, anytime I think mate, he is two steps ahead.  I shift back once I get along the tree line. I put on some sweatpants and pick out a T-shirt. I leave the bag hidden. I cool down with a light jog, letting the cool breeze dry up the beads of sweat. I just need to be decent enough to have a conversation with Sera. I already know how it will end, but I can't stop trying. I put my shirt on and turn to walk towards town. I have to hurry if I want to pull all of this off tonight. I go to Sera's shop, and as expected, she doesn't know anything. I start getting frustrated but then I feel a warmth coming from inside me. Almost like someone is hugging me from the inside. It's calming, and I forget how angry I was just feeling. I furrow my brows. I pick up this scent of warm vanilla ice cream. She's here. Sean says inside my head.  Who is?   Mate!   I don't see anyone out here. Turn left. Okay. See she's looking at us. She has been watching us. I don't know how to explain it but I don't physically see anyone, but I can smell her. I can hear her small movements as she breathes. Is my mate a ghost? Whatever she is, she is mine, and I am going to take what is mine. I start walking towards where I think she is. I hear a sharp intake of breath when she realizes I am coming to her. The closer I get, the harder my d**k gets. Can I f**k something invisible? Well if this was my mate, then I belong inside her invisible legs. When I can feel her inches from me, I stop. I slowly reach down until I feel her chin. She is so small. I lift her head and somehow manage to find her lips. I start kissing her. It takes her a second to adjust, but then I am met with so much passion as she kisses me back that it makes the need to f**k her much worse. And then she gently nips my bottom lip. Fuck! This woman is something else. I pull her flush against me. If she wants to play this game, I am going to torture her precious mouth until she screams for more. Her moans just encourage me.  I can smell her arousal. She is going to drive me crazy! All of a sudden she disappears.  I can no longer feel or smell her. What just happened?   "Do you want us to give you some privacy why you dry hump that lamppost?" Trevor asked. Seriously! I turn to see both Trevor and Max standing behind me with an amused look on their faces. I quickly fill them in about how I felt and smelt my mate but I couldn’t see her. “Ah, that explains why we found you in such a position,” Trevor starts  "Let's go change, go to the party, and then we can go to Sera. Maybe she can tell us what happened," Max says, cutting him off before he starts taking the conversation where it really doesn't need to go.  "Yeah, we can ask her to make your ghost visible. Gotta see the goods while you f-" Trevor starts again, but this time stops after getting a glare from me.  "What? We all thought about it. I was just the brave soul who said something," Trevor finishes. We get our bags and check out three rooms at the hotel. I quickly shower and put on light blue shirt with navy pants. I finish up with a brown belt and shoes. I step out my room. The guys were all dressed and ready. Trevor comes up to us to "inspect" our looks. He undid the first two buttons of both Max and my shirt. "Gotta help the ladies take these off," he says. We catch a ferry to the island. Their pack had ferries coming every thirty minutes so it wasn't that hard. Once we arrive on the island, a driver takes us to the packhouse. There are so many wolves here but I pick up my vanilla ice cream scent. I will have to be careful with my ghost. Don't want a bunch of wolves watching the Alpha of the Moon Stone pack trying to dry hump something. Once in a lifetime is enough for that. Sean, scout her out. I need to find the girl.
