Chapter 14

*Aliane POV*      After the boys and I ate lunch, I said goodbye and gave them back to Izzy. Then I decided to take a shower and change into jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Now I was trying to find my mate. I figured that if Turner was back, I needed to tell him our history so he wouldn't be blind-sighted.      I walked up to our floor of the house, and I could smell him in his office. So I walked right up to the door and knocked.  "Come in." Was said from the other side, so I opened the door to see a tired Iván sitting at his desk with stacks of paper. I guess running a few worldwide businesses and a pack was stressful. I walked over towards him and straddled him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and leaned his head on my chest. I wrapped an arm around him and ran my other through his hair in a soothing gesture.  "Thank you, Mariposa." "For what?" "For being here and helping me. You make me feel better; before you got in here, I was about to explode from the stress." "Baby, don't thank me for that. As your mate and your Luna, I will always be here to help you no matter how I have to do it."     He lifted his head again and made eye contact with me. "Your so perfect, Mariposa."  " Can you hold on to the sentence because I need to talk to you, and you might change your mind..." I said, super nervous.     He picked up on my seriousness and nervousness and started to stroke my back. Then he stood up, and I wrapped my legs around him as not to fall. He began to walk, and I didn't know where until we reached our bedroom's lounge area.  "Talk to me, baby. What's going on?" He asked gently     I felt so guilty, and I don't know why. It happened before him, and now that I have met him, I'd never want another. He is perfect, my true another half.  "Before I tell you, I want you to know that now that I have met you and have spent time with you, I never want another. You are my reason for waking up every morning from now until I die."     He stood up and looked down at me with that statement as if to tell me I needed to get to the point yesterday. I took a deep breath, and then I began.  "My brother and his best friend were friends since birth. They were always together. The same age and me a year and a half younger, they never wanted me around. At one point, I thought of him as a nuisance; I absolutely couldn't stand him. Then puberty happened. Suddenly I looked at him in a different light. I started to developed a crush on him. I would never have told him, but one day he cornered me. He admitted he had a crush on me, and I said the same. We started to hang out in secret. My brother could never know. We had sort of a relationship from then I was fifteen to seventeen. We weren't technically dating, never asking each other out, but t the same time, we weren't seeing other people. One week before his birthday, I told him that I loved him and wanted him to be my mate. He had been distant for about a month before turning eighteen, and I thought that he was just nervous. So when I told him I hoped and prayed, he felt the same. All he said was he loved me too. I was so happy that I didn't realize his smile didn't reach his eyes like normal and that he said nothing about being mates. The day before his birthday, we spent the whole day together. I didn't realize then that he was saying goodbye. I was just too happy to see anything. That night I had to beg him to let me stay with him so I could be the first to see him at midnight. He caved, and I felt happy. Later that night, right before midnight, I told him that I loved him and then pulled him into what would be our last kiss.  A second after we pulled away, the door swung open. A girl from school that was known for being the smartest was the one who opened the door. They looked at each other and said the words that broke my heart. "Mate," then she ran to him on the bed and tackled him. A second later, they were in a heavy make out right in front of me—just inches from me on the bed. I ran out, and then they left to move to the city. They were still packed, but his mate didn't want him near me, so they left. I got over it after a few months. After that, I was skeptical about finding you. On my eighteenth birthday, I was sad. I didn't see you, but a small part of me was glad. I promised myself I'd never let anyone hurt me like that again. What hurt the most is in that last month, he was leading me on. He was pretending. He knew she was his mate."     At some point in my speech, I started crying, and Iván, at some point, got up and started pacing. "Aliane, I'm sorry that happened to you," Iván said, coming to sit next to me. He pulled me into him, and I cried harder. I don't deserve him.  "I want you to know I wouldn't hurt you like that ever. I am here forever; you will never get rid of me. I hate him for what he did to you. I don't blame you, and I'm not upset or hurt. You were young, and he took advantage of you. I get why you have trust issues now. I honestly want to kill him." I looked up at him in disbelief. I was still crying but not as bad anymore.  "I thought you would hate me. Leave me even. I feel like I have betrayed you. I never loved him even close to how I have you, and I haven't been with him in years, and yet I still feel like I have betrayed your trust." Then I broke down all over again. Iván pulled me closer to him and started soothingly rubbing circles on my back.  "I'd never leave you because of your past, and if anything, I love you more and trust you more because you decided to be honest with me. You opened up and told me your darkest secret without me asking. Now stop crying, Mariposa. I hate seeing you cry." "There is one more thing," I said in a quiet voice, hiccuping while trying to get the sentence out.  "I saw him at the park today. He said he joined this pack this morning. That's not why I told you, though. I was always planing on telling you; I just never knew when the right time was. I figured now was the right time since he is here." I said in a weak voice.      Iván pulled me away from him a bit so he could see me. But it wasn't Iván's beautiful eyes that met me. They were his wolves. He growled when he saw the fear, pain, and sadness on my face and pulled me into him a bit roughly.  "Your mine forever, and he will pay for hurting you." His wolf's voice was deeper and rougher than Iván's, and he said these words with a growl.      I pulled back to look at him. "Don't, my love. He is not worth it. He is not worth our attention any longer. Now can I have Iván back?" "I love you, Mi Tesoro." (My Treasure")      He leaned in to kiss me. It felt different then with Iván; he filled our kiss with longing as if he couldn't have me anymore after this kiss. We broke our kiss, and I grabbed his face and leaned my forehead against his.  "I love you too, and make Iván take you out soon," I whispered.  Then he was gone, and Iván was back.  "Mariposa, I won't hurt him your right. He doesn't deserve our attention. You have moved on the same as him. Were together, and that's the only thing that matters."     I nodded in agreement. "Now, can we get lunch? I'm so hungry I could eat four cows by myself," I started trying to make a little joke. He laughed and shook his head at my goofiness.  "That's my girl. Now let's go get you four cows."     We laughed and then got up. I grabbed his hand and linked our fingers together. Then we started walking to the kitchen, talking about the twins. ~~~~~~~~~ Word count: 1483 Updated and edited on 12/18/2020
