Jake climbed the steps to the small platform at the edge of the training fields. The open space was the only place large enough to hold the entire pack comfortably. Wolves milled about in loose groups, voices blending into a restless hum that quieted as Jake took his place, followed by Callan and Russ. The elders joined them moments later, Alistair moving to the microphone with a heavy, solemn expression. Jake’s father had always despised these gatherings. He could remember countless times Christian muttered about having to stand before the pack. Maybe it was because Christian never liked being questioned.
