I bolted upright. Unsure of my whereabouts, my eyes darted around in the dark searching for something familiar. Air expelled and filled my lungs in quick bursts, and my heart thudded. Sweat trickled from my temples. I swept my hair from the back of my neck and shuddered. As the whisper in my ears faded, so too did my confusion and the dream. 12:31 AM glowed in red from the clock on the nightstand. Moonlight poured in through the window. The crystal suncatcher caught a moonbeam and glinted. As my heart returned to a normal rhythm I crawled from under my covers and gazed out the window.
