Chapter 5: The Coach's Attention

Alex and Carlos had always loved playing soccer, but they had never considered playing on a team before. When Miguel suggested it, they looked at each other in excitement. They had both been thinking about it since the last game, and the idea of playing on a team was starting to sound more and more appealing. "Really?" Alex asked. "Do you know of any teams around here?" Miguel nodded. "There's a youth league that plays at the park on weekends. I play on one of the teams, and we could use some more players. You guys would be a great addition to the team." Alex and Carlos exchanged another look. They were both hesitant, unsure if they were ready to commit to playing on a team. But the idea of playing soccer at a more competitive level was too exciting to ignore. "We'll think about it," Carlos said, and Miguel nodded understandingly. "Sure, no problem. Let me know if you're interested, and I can give you more information about the league." With that, Miguel said his goodbyes and headed off towards his family. Alex and Carlos stayed behind, kicking the soccer ball back and forth as they talked about the possibility of joining a team. "I don't know if we're ready for that," Carlos said. "Playing on a team is a big commitment." "I know," Alex replied, "but it could be really fun. And we could get better by playing with more experienced players." They kicked the ball back and forth in silence for a few moments, lost in thought. Finally, Alex spoke up. "I think we should do it. Let's join the team and see how it goes." Carlos nodded, and they both grinned
