Alex's heart swelled with pride as the other kids congratulated him on his goal. He felt a rush of excitement and knew that he had found something he truly loved - playing soccer.
As they continued playing, Alex and Carlos quickly became a part of the group. They laughed and joked with the other kids, passing the ball back and forth and trying out new moves.
One of the older boys, Miguel, noticed Alex's talent on the field and approached him. "Hey, you're really good! Do you play on a team?" he asked.
Alex shook his head. "No, I've never played on a team before. This is my first time playing with other kids," he replied.
Miguel grinned. "You should definitely join a team! It's so much fun and you can learn so much."
Alex thought about it for a moment. The idea of playing on a team sounded exciting, but he didn't know if he was good enough. "I don't know if I'm good enough," he said, feeling a bit unsure.
Miguel shrugged. "You'll never know unless you try. And even if you're not the best, you'll still have fun and learn a lot."
Alex nodded, feeling a sense of determination building within him. He wanted to get better at soccer and playing on a team seemed like the perfect way to do that.
As the game came to an end, the kids said their goodbyes and headed home. Alex and Carlos walked back to their houses, talking excitedly about the game.
"I can't believe how much fun that was," Carlos said, grinning from ear to ear.
Alex nodded in agreement. "I know, right? I think I've found something I really love."
From that day on, Alex spent every spare moment practicing his soccer skills. He watched videos online, read books about soccer, and practiced on his own or with Carlos.
A few weeks later, Alex saw a flyer for a local youth soccer team tryouts. He hesitated for a moment, but then remembered Miguel's words. He decided to give it a shot and signed up for the tryouts.
At the tryouts, Alex was nervous but excited. He gave it his all and was surprised when he received a call a few days later telling him that he had made the team.
Alex was over the moon with excitement. He had never felt so passionate about something before and he knew that playing on the team was going to be an amazing experience.
As he looked back on that day at the park, Alex realized that it was the moment when his love for soccer truly began. And he knew that it was a love that would stay with him for the rest of his life.
