Out of her expectation, Zi Yingjun was less detached to her after what she did in accusing Ye Zen and provoking Zi Yingjun at the same time. Zi Yan Yue carefully listened as he entertained her parents by jesting. Zi Yingjun never speaks this way before. Now, she is getting confused what sort of person is he. The little boy she often played with was silent and introverted, the current classmate she rarely speaks with is very uncivilized and devious. But now, it was like he was Zi Gu Wen, the exact opposite of the Zi Yingjun she adapted with.
This made her think what keeps making him change himself. Was it all a mask? Was his kindness when they were little was a facade? Was his deviousness the real him? She cant tell. If she views it in a different perspective, she finds Zi Yingjun as a good pretender. But, he never harmed her. He's still her childhood friend. After the dinner, Zi Yingjun left first. Zi Yanfan, Zi Mingde and Zi Yan Yue bid farewell to Zi Ming Yun next.
Zi Yan Yue followed behind her parents when they stopped. "Aunt, Uncle, can I speak with Ah Yue?" a familiar voice asked. She peeked behind her parents and saw Zi Yingjun. He took a glimpse to her and Zi Yanfan vigilantly blocked their view.
"Ah Jun, you're already a young man and Ah Yue is a maiden now. You two should keep a distance, en?" Zi Yanfan requested in a polite tone. Suddenly, Zi Mingde cleared his throat.
"Yan'er, let the kids be. Ah Yue will marry Zi Gu Wen next year, what's wrong if these two have some time together? Besides, Yingying is trustworthy." upon saying this, Zi Yingjun almost coughed from suppressing his laughter. Trustworthy? Zi Mingde only knew him as the obedient boy in the past. If he were to know how disrespectful and rebellious Zi Yingjun is, Zi Mingde would have face-palmed. "Yan'er, they're cousins. They are relatives and will have their own family soon. What's the use of keeping a distance between them?"
"Fine, fine. But if something happens, I will push the blame on you!" Zi Yanfan harrumphed. She turned to Zi Yingjun with a sharp look. "Ah Jun, I expect you can be as disciplined as your mother, not like your father."
"Certainly, Aunt." Zi Yingjun lightly laughed. Zi Yanfan nodded and left with Zi Mingde. He gazed back to Zi Yan Yue with an earnest look. "Ah Yue, tomorrow is the last day."
"I know." Zi Yan Yue nodded solemnly. Her last day to be free, Zi Yingjun's last day to be free as well. They will be bound to different persons after the Winter Exam. "You have anything to say...?"
"I want to ask for a final favor. It is something important and I need your help. Follow me to my room, just this once." he didn't bother to explain and before she can answer, he already dragged her to his room. Zi Yingjun closed the door.
"Y-Yingjun, what are you doing?!" Zi Yan Yue covered her eyes when he removed his waistband. She kept telling herself not to have a peek but there was a devil on her shoulder telling her to take a look.
"Hey, its fine. Ah Yue, look." Zi Yingjun's voice was soothing like always. Not like Zi Gu Wen's jade voice but like a tempting incubus. A pair of hand lowered her hands off her face. She still her her eyes closed when Zi Yingjun brought her hand on his chest. "Ah Yue, I need your help here. I was injured in the competition and I cant heal myself. To do so, I need someone related to my kin. I cant ask Uncle, he will surely beat me with a stick. As for you, you're the only person reliable who have the same blood as mine."
"Ehm?" Zi Yan Yue slowly opened her eyes. She looked at his gauze-wrapped chest where few bloodstains are visible.
"I fought on the second level and received a heavy injury. The only way to heal it is to restore my body instead of undoing the damage. In order to accomplish it, I will need a close relative's blood." Zi Yingjun let go of her hand. A dagger appeared from his grasp as he handed it to her. "Ah Yue, we are of the same blood. The most reliable in all people I met."
Zi Yan Yue was hesitant to take the dagger. Zi Yingjun saw through her reluctance and took a step further. He held her hand with the dagger in between. Zi Yingjun leaned down to whisper to her ears.
"Ah Yue, you only have to make a small cut on your pulse. Do not worry, I am here to heal your wound. Moreover, I only need a little amount of blood. Just fill half of this." Zi Yingjun retrieved a vial from his space ring and placed it down the table next to them. Zi Yan Yue looked at it then to the dagger. Still, she is afraid and hesitant. "You can disagree though. But with my state, I have to forfeit the competition. You don't have to force yourself, en?"
With his final persuasion, as if bewitched by his voice, she swiftly made a cut on her wrist. Crimson blood flowed down to the vial. She filled half of it. Just on time, Zi Yingjun pressed a fabric on her wound to stop the bleeding.
"Here." Zi Yingjun brought a pill to her mouth. Zi Yan Yue bit it and quickly consumed the pill. He removed the fabric and the injury was gone. Zi Yingjun took the vial with a satisfied smile. "Cousin, you're the best."
Calling her cousin, Zi Yan Yue doesn't know whether to be hurt or not. What does he mean by that?
"Yingjun..." she is about to ask one thing more when she felt the result will not be good. "I should go now. Heal well."
Zi Yingjun just nodded. The young girl headed to the door and casted a look of sadness. However, Zi Yingjun was not even looking at her but on the vial instead.
