Thai finally understood why the unusual girl was surprised when she told her about her schedule. Lexith had shown her to the class and left for her own which was a class next to hers, not close or far away.
History and Myth class was not a class to be taken seriously because it's either people joined to have a free time or to sleep, while the teacher just handed out papers for them to read.
Thai looked around for a little bit, as people went back to doing things far away from studying or concentrating on the papers given to them. She stared back at what was in front of her and sighed. She didn't understand a thing she was reading.
The first part was about the war between the goblins who were claimed to be the ugliest of all other mythical beings and the elves, the fairest of them all. In her perspective, there must be a reason why the war started rather than beauty reasons. "Um... Hey."
She turned to the brunette sitting beside her and smiled a little. She had decided to sit at the back but seeing they want uninterested with the lesson, she changed to sitting in front with a girl wearing big glasses that complimented her big caramel eyes. She also seems to be the only person invested in the learning. "Hi, I'm Kika Woodleg, major in Art and Archaeology".
Thai took her outstretched hand with another smile not wanting to be rude," Thai Williams, major in Science".
"Thai? From Thailand?"
Thai chuckled a little, shaking her head in denial, "Just a name. I'm an Asian".
Kika pouted in embarrassment as a look of realization hit her face and she withdrew her gaze a little. "I'm sorry but it's rare for someone to be named Thai."
"It's okay", Thai brushed it off, as it's not only her who made sure mistakes about her name. An awkward silence fell between them and Kika broke it, "I noticed you sighing all the time and wanted to know if you need a little help about the papers".
Thai thought for a while and moved closer to her as she showed her the page. "The war between the goblins and elves was quite unreasonable to begin with", she stated , not wanting to scare her off . Kika stiffened a bit but managed to regain her composure, as she heard her continue, "Why would you go to war with people just because of beauty reasons?"
Kika was astonished for a while and smiled," You're the only person who is really interested with the stuff. They just want to sleep or have free time ", Kika stared at the other students and turned to Thai,"This class really is not of much interest to students. I mean who cares about magic anyways or the past when we're living in the present?". Thai understood that part , because she was sometimes mocked for reading those kind of things back in highschool so she never had any friends. Even the nerds stayed away from her except one.
"But Mr Jenkins still gives credits to everyone that attends his class . Something I'm not found of , especially when it's given to those unusual five guys at the back ", Kika had hostility and disdain in her voice when she talked about that and Thai turned to see who she was busy sulking at. It was hard finding who but she caught sight of someone staring at her and her heart skipped a beat. He was strange with a scar that started from his brow to his right eye. His lips was also bruised and there was a bandaid on his left cheek. [Who would dress up like that to school?]. She averted her gaze back Kika who was packing her stuffs. "The bell is about to ring and if you have questions and really interested in this", she placed her hand on the paper pile,"I can accompany you to Mr Jenkins for more clarification if you want".
Thai didn't respond immediately and gazed at Kika who felt awkward and tugged at her clothes, feeling a little nervous. "Are you a nerd?"
"Is it that revealing?", she sighed, clearly scared for a moment that she had found something about her. "Well, your cocoa hair is tied in a ponytail, you're wearing big glasses", Kika adjusted her glasses,"You are in a hoodie and baggy jeans with sneakers so who wouldn't guess",Thai smiled a bit, as she saw the nervous smile on her face. She had truly met someone who she could compete with. "Luckily, I'm also a nerd so nice". They both laughed at that just as the bell rang and people sprang to their feet.
Mr Jenkins also stood up, placing the book she was currently reading on the table,"Make sure you complete the assignment on the mythical war. I'll take it next week", but no one seemed to hear as they left the room leaving Kika and a stunned Thai. The teacher turned to them with a frown and Kika nudged the arm of Thai, urging her to speak.
"Um... Mr Jenkins, I have a few questions to ask about the whole paper", she started glad she could at least remember his name after all that surprises. The teacher was stunned a bit but sat down, with a concentrated look, ready to listen to what this new girl had to say.
