Lexi stared at the papers in front of her like they were a death sentence.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she picked up the pen, but the cold voice across the mahogany table didn’t allow hesitation.
“Sign it. "You wanted a solution, didn’t you?”
Alexander’s icy gaze never wavered, arms crossed, dressed in a tailored Armani suit like this was just another business merger.
Lexi swallowed the lump in her throat.
The contract was clear—six months of marriage, live-in arrangement, no public disclosure, no intimacy. Everything was transactional.
“What happens after six months?” she whispered.
“We divorced. You walk away with enough money to save your family. I get rid of my grandmother’s constant matchmaking.”
Lexi’s heart twisted. She never imagined her life would come to this—marrying a man who couldn’t care less if she existed.
“Fine.”
Her signature inked the page, sealing a fate she never asked for.
Alexander slid the contract into his briefcase and stood.
“You’ll move into the penthouse tomorrow. Be punctual.”
Lexi looked up, searching his face for something—anything—but his expression was pure steel.
“And Lexi?”
“Yes?”
“Don’t fall in love with me. This isn’t one of your romance novels.”
He left the room before she could say she had stopped believing in love long ago.
