Move in with him?
I burst into laughter shoving him away from my sight and getting down from the bed. Hell no way was I going to give him a second chance. Didn't he understand last night was only because we both needed something to get our tragic night off our mind.
“I need to explain something to you Shane.” I started off with having him sit at the edge of the bed. “Listen closely Shane, there is nothing that can ever happen between the two of us. I don't want to be known as the daughter sleeping with her mother's husband. It is not even that, you came too late.”
“But you said what does this mean last night, remember? I assumed you wanted answers and I am giving you answers now. Lauren, move in with me.”
“You must be kidding me?” I tossed my hair backwards, picking up last night's clothes from his closet and wearing it back on. “I have an hour to run back home and pick all I need for this interview and you are here telling me to move in with you. Life doesn't revolve around you Shane.”
Every bit of my words were like dagger pricing into Shane's chest and I didn't care anywhere. That was how I felt when he pushed me away, how I felt finding out that he is my stepfather. I needed time to digest all these and giving him an answer wasn't in any option.
“Then drop by for a visit, probably three times a week to check up on me. We have to get along one way or the other and I will gladly be intrigued to get to know you over again. Apparently, I am last in the line of men who want you.” Shane bitterly shook his head, straightening himself up from the bed. “I made breakfast, it's your favorite, bacon and toast.”
“I am allergic to bacon from now on.” I cast him a glance, holding myself from puking. There were just not a lot of things common between us anymore. People change within seven years and yes, I did change. “I need to go Shane. Work is waiting for me.”
“Okay, can I drop you off?”
“I can't have any misunderstandings in my new life, if you understand what I mean.” Without wasting much time, I left the bedroom, taking the steps carefully until I was in the living room. A memory of him jerking on the couch flashed by me and I sensed shivers running through my spines. “What have you done to me Shane?” I murmured, glancing for the last time at him before leaving.

Winchester Estate,
What seemed like eternity, I arrived at my apartment, meeting Zoey lazily playing with the remote on the couch, her face laid down on the couch. “b***h where have you been since last night?” She called out to be and I laughed, dropping my handbag on the kitchen counter and going into the bedroom.
She sensed I wasn't there and quickly followed me into the bedroom. “Do you still have those birth pills? I don't want to take my chances this time around.”
Zoey's eyes widened in fury as she slammed her palms onto the wooden door frame. “You were f*****g someone while I was out in the rain searching for you?!” I stopped in my tracks, taken aback by Zoey’s sudden fury. She stormed further into the room, her hands clenching my sides.
“What! Stop looking at me like that, I know I am very stupid to have done it raw but damn, get me those birth pills. I am already regretting it.” I rubbed my palms, taking off my clothes and stepping into the shower but Zoey wouldn't just free me.
She stumbled in front of the bathroom door, constantly knocking. "I knew you had s*x! You damn Lauren, you know what makes this worse, Lauren?" She snapped, continuously tapping her fingers on the door.
"We both agreed to be celibate! We promised each other that after all the crap we've been through, we'd take a break from relationships and s*x. Focus on ourselves for once and now I get to find out that you had a fiancè and obviously you are f*****g a random dude that's not your fiancè.”
I sighed heavily as the warm water trickled down my skin, trying to let the steam drown out Zoey's words. But she wouldn’t stop talking and didn't look like one that would let me go through my day without reminding me of our pact.
"I know, Zoey," I murmured, rinsing the soap off my body. I came down from the bathtub, and looked at my body covered in hickey and sighed again. "I— I slipped. It just... happened.”
Zoey scoffed, crossing her arms. "Slipped? You don't just slip into someone’s bed, Lauren. What the hell is going on with you?” She tugged on the door handle, banging on it until I came out.
“What is it, Zoey? Okay I had s*x when I am not supposed to, I am sorry. I am wrong!”
“You don't tell me anything and we both live under the same roof. Here are the birth pills, take them and do it already.” I glanced at her, a smirk creeping up my face.
I knew who Zoey was–she couldn't be mad at me for so long. With that, I picked out a crisp white blouse from the closet opposite me alongside a navy blue suit jacket and tailored skinny black office trousers. The best pair in Braxton City.
Zoey watched me as I slipped on the white blouse, buttoning it up and slipping into a matching navy blue, open-toed heels. “Birth pills okay? I am running late.” Zoey scoffed and went into the other room coming back with a tablet and threw the birth control pills on the bed narrowing her eyes at me.
“Who did you do it with? Who are you having s*x with? So, who was it? Some random guy from a bar? Or w
as it someone you’ve been seeing behind my back?”
