My father and I spoke for a very long time. We talked as the sun disappeared and was replaced by the moon in the dark sky. And we continued to talk more through the twinkling of the stars. I was tucked comfortably on the couch, a blanket covering my legs and my back supported by pillows. With the phone in my hand, my knees pulled up to my chest, I felt incredibly happy listening to my father's stories. Food was given to me a few times, the girls piling it on the table of my little alcove of books. Ajax at one time came in to eat with me, sitting down beside me on the couch. He never spoke but kept close to me as his eyes focused on a few complicated looking paperwork that he brought from his office.
