The Arrival

Lilly and the gang come over quite often. We have room so they can spend the night. After Liam's party last night, it was late so I told everyone to stay the night. Today was a leisure day for all of us at the house, so we decided to hang out by the lake. Everyone is enjoying a nice swim. Monica couldn't due to the pregnancy.
Monica: Anyone want a beer or soda?
Leon: I do babe.
As soon as she bends down to grab it, she grabs her stomach. Leon swims to shore and rushes over to her. We all turned to look and join him. I hope she doesn't have a miscarriage. I started seeing liquid coming from her.
Monica: I think the baby is coming.
Leon: s**t baby we gotta go.
We all stay with her while he rushes to get the car. He helps her into the car. He buckles her in, then takes off. We all headed inside to get dried off and changed to meet them at the hospital. Lilly and Briggs head back to their place to pack a back for them. Liam and I get dressed and rush over to the hospital. We park the car and make our way inside.
Me: I'm so excited for them.
Liam: I know. Can't wait for us to have one.
Me: We aren't even married yet.
Liam: That's why I said one day girasole.
We finally make it to the room where they are. Leon is holding her hand. It's a side of him I never got to see when we dated. Lilly and Briggs are right behind us with a dufflebag. Kai walks in behind them. I haven't seen him since that day Liam punched his ass out. He walks over to Monica and kisses her on the head. Sara is standing by the door still wearing my old engagement ring. Atleast he's doing right by her.
Liam: Why are you here?
Kai: I am the uncle. More like why are ya'll here. She's not blood and neither are you.
Monica: Guys, can we please not do this now?
She groans and starts breathing deeply. She must be having a contraction. Leon moves the hair back out of her face. She looks up at him lovingly. Kai and Liam continue to death stare at each other. I grabbed Liam and pulled him out of the room. Liam's eyes never leave Kai until we are out of the room.
Me: Stop it. Today is not the day.
Liam: Your right, I'm sorry.
Me: Come on, let's head down to the gift shop and grab a gift for the baby.
Liam: Ok.
We got down to the gift shop and I spotted the cutest little dinosaur. I also picked up an it's a boy balloon and headed to the register. I pull my wallet out, but Liam swipes his card. The girl puts it in a cute gift bag, and we head back to Monica's room. Before we enter, Liam grabs my hand and kisses it.
Liam: I'll be on my best behavior.
Me: That's all I ask.
We walked back inside, and I handed the bag to Leon. He gives me a hug then hands it to Monica. She starts crying. I go and give her a hug, and then she has another contraction. Moments later she has another. They are becoming more frequent. Leon goes and gets the nurse. The nurse came in immediately.
Nurse: We have to take her. The baby is coming now. Who's the father?
Leon: I am.
Nurse : I need you to come with me. Everyone else, I need you all to go to the lobby.
We all gather our things and head to the lobby. Lilly is pacing. Briggs, trying to get her to stay in one spot. Kai and Sara are in their own little corner. I look at her belly. She'll be due soon in a few months. I feel at my belly remembering what happened. I feel the stinging in my eyes, the tears wanting to come. Liam looks over and wipes them before they fall.
Liam: I promise it'll happen.
Me: I know it just still hurts.
Liam: We'll have a big family.
I guess I must have fallen asleep. I look around to see everyone is napping, all except Kai, who is looking at me. I quickly turned around. I moved Liam off me and headed to the vending machine to get something to snack on. I feel a presence behind me. When I turned, it was Kai. I leave to head back to Liam, and he pins me against the vending machine.
Me: Oh excuse me Kai.
He doesn't move. He just stare me down. I'm extremely uncomfortable right now. Suddenly he's pulled off me. Briggs is standing behind him. He grabs my hand, and we try to leave when Kai snatches my arm back.
Briggs: Kai. Leave her alone.
Kai: This has nothing to do with you.
Me: Kai, please not today.
Kai: It's never the right time for you. What do I have to do for us to talk about us?
Liam: Because there's nothing to talk about. She's with me now. Get it through your f*****g head.
Liam pulls me into his arms, and we start walking off. I turn back when I hear a loud thud. Briggs is holding hi against the vending machine with a knife in his hand. A nurse walking by panics and calls for security. Briggs holds him there until security arrives, and he is escorted out with Sara going with him. She looks back to show off the ring like I care about it anymore.
Liam: Thanks man. Would have been alot worse if you weren't here.
Briggs: Anytime. Melanie is family. Blood or not.
Liam: I appreciate helping her.
We make it back and Lilly is gone. She comes running back. Looking excited as ever. Which can only mean the baby was born healthy. She grabs my hand and takes us down to the nursery and points to the baby. He is so small and adorable. Liam wraps his arm around me and kisses me on the forehead. We headed to meet back up with Leon and Monica. She looks exhausted.
Me: We're so happy for you guys.
Leon: Thank you guys.
Lilly: Sooooo.... what are you guys going to name him?
Leon: Aiden Alexander Grant. Named after his grandfather's middle names.
Everyone: Awww.
We hung around and then finally the nurse brought baby Aiden in. We all started fawning over him. The nurse hands him to Monica. She gives him a kiss before handing him to Leon so we can see him. Lilly holds him first. She talks to him. Introducing herself as Auntie Lilly and how she's going to spoil him. She hands him to me. I cradled him in my arms. He's so small and fragile. I looked over at Liam. He's standing next to me playing with Aiden's little feet.
Liam: I can't wait.
Me: Me either.
Leon: Actually, we have some news for you guys.
Monica: We want Liam and you to be Aiden's godparents.
Me: US?!
Leon: Yes. Your still family.
Liam: Wow! I'm honored. I didn't know you guys would think of me as anything but the guy who got with Melanie.
Monica: You make her happy, which makes us happy.
I start crying. I handed the baby to Lilly before I drowned Aiden in tears. I gave Leon and Monica a hug and thanked them for allowing us to be his godparents. We hang around a little longer. Before we leave the new family to head home, we say our goodbyes. Liam and I head to the car. I'm still over the moon they chose us to be the godparents to their baby. We get in the car and he grabs my hand. I lace my fingers through his.
Liam: Let's do it.
Me: Do what?
Liam: Start a family.
Me: Is this really what you want?
Liam: Melanie, I want everything with you.
Me: You won't regret this?
Liam: Girasole, I won't regret anything I do with you. Even if we don't work out, which I don't see happening, I'll cherish it all. The good and the bad.
Me: Then yes!
Liam: Yes?!
Me: YES!
We drove home happy to know that we were willing to take the next steps in our relationship. There is no man I've ever been more sure of that everything will be perfect.
