4~Indebted to him

1131 Words
I'd thought the company was amazing, but Asher's house was breathtaking. He lived in a freaking mansion and the place managed to have a blend between modern and victorian. As soon as we entered, some maids rushed up to us. They greeted him before he gave them orders for dinner and they all scurried along. I remained by the door, standing awkwardly before Asher looked back at me. “Let me show you to your room” I followed behind him mutely, observing the unique architecture and decor all around me. We climbed up a spiral staircase and walked down a dimly lit hall till well stopped in front of one of the rooms. “You can stay here for the night” I stared wordlessly, still shaken up from what had happened. “Thank you” I finally managed to mutter. His gaze remained fixed to my face. “Freshen up and come down for dinner. You should use some ice on your bruises” With that, he left. I took a deep breath before opening the door. I flicked on a light and walked to the bed, sinking into its softness, I just laid there for a moment. Reflecting on the past couple of days, I couldn't help but blame Liam for everything that had happened to me. I'd been trying to keep it together but I'd truly loved him, I was a fool for thinking he felt the same way. As if cheating on me hadn't been enough, he'd fled like a coward, risking my life for his own safety. I couldn't begin to imagine how I'd pay back so much money. I turned to my phone sitting on the bed next to me. I picked it up, my fingers hovering over Liam's number. All I had to do was press down… I knew better than to call after what he'd done to me but in my weakest moment I found myself missing the parts of him that I'd loved so much. I wanted to ask him why. Why he'd chosen to hurt me. But I knew nothing he'd say would change the fact that he'd broken my heart and my trust along with it. There was no use taking a shower when I had nothing to wear. I would have to ask Asher for something to wear after dinner. I pulled my hair out of its ponytail as my head continued to throb lightly. I found my way back down the stairs. I saw a maid walking by and she escorted me to the dining room. Asher was already seated when I entered. I felt his gaze sweep over me, very quickly. “I realised I didn't have any clothes to change into” I said quietly, probably reading his mind. “Yes, I'll make arrangements for you after dinner” I nodded appreciatively. I was still shaken up and trying my best to keep a normal front. It didn't help that Asher's gaze was constantly burning through my skin, I focused on my food to avoid meeting his eyes. But I wasn't very hungry. Asher cleared his throat once he was done with his plate. I looked up at him “Is the food not to your liking?” “Oh, no it’s good. I'm just… not very hungry” He didn't say anything to that. Instead, he rose to his feet. “Come” My eyes followed him as he walked towards the stairs. I blinked a little too much before following. We didn't stop at my door. He kept walking till we reached another door, his room, I presumed. The overall aesthetic of his room was dark. I couldn't day I was surprised. Being alone with him in his room took me back to that night. Our bodies entwined, sheets ruffled, his deep yet honey tone driving me closer and closer to the edge as I cried out in pure ecstasy. I was grateful for the darkness. My discomfort and reddening cheeks would otherwise be visible to him. “You can use my bathroom and I'll lay out some for you to wear after” “Okay” I didn't spend a lot of time in the shower. After the day I'd had, I really just wanted to be in a soft warm bed, sleeping away my problems. I stepped out of the bathroom, covered in nothing but a towel. Asher wasn't facing me, he must've heard me coming out and he'd turned his back to me. His simple gesture put me more at ease. Sitting on the bed was a shirt. I put it on and it was easily a mini dress on me. “I'm decent” My voice was barely above a whisper. Asher turned around “Sit" I did so without fuss. He sat next to me on his bed, keeping a respectful distance, he reached out with an ice pack, placing it on my face where I'd been hit. The sudden cold sent shivers down my body. I realised I hadn't actually thanked him for saving me. If he hadn't come when he did… I didn't even want to imagine the awful things that would've been done to me. I looked up at him through my lashes. His features never ceased to amaze me. The sheer perfection. I guessed it was one of the many perks of not being human. “Thank you, for saving me… If you hadn't…” “I'll pay off the loan your ex boyfriend incurred so they don't come after you again” “Really?” His statement shocked me. Why was he willing to do so much for me? Nevertheless, I was grateful. “Thank you, so much. I-I wish there was a way I could repay you” He dropped the ice pack and looked me straight in the eyes, grey on blue, hypnotic. He tucked a loose strand behind my ear. “What if I told you there was a way to pay me back, kitten?” I saw his eyes grow a few shades darker. My heart skipped a beat at his name choice. He'd called me kitten that night. The way he stared at me made me nervous, I wasn't sure what his proposition was and I wasn't even sure I wanted to know, not when he used that name. All the alarms in my head were going off yet I was curious. “H-how?” “I need a mate, a luna, a bride” “But what does that have to do with me?” I didn't know how those things worked with werewolves but I couldn't possibly be any of those things for him. Could I? “I want you to be my Luna, Lydia”
