Chapter 15 Face off

Lorenzo POV

"You look like a raccoon." I remarked which Austin replied with a side eye.

I didn't need to lift my eyes from my laptop to tell that.

He was half asleep, dozing on and off.

"What do you expect ! I didn't sleep a bit last night. I don't know how she will react this time. I bet she will kick us out as soon as she sees us lurking around her territory."

Austin joked But I could hear the tremble in his voice. The fear of rejection.

"No doubt " I replied curtly. I also worried about her reaction. I never want to force her.

Austin looked relaxed a bit this morning. He might have come to his senses. Best for him. Hypering wouldn't helping him anyway.

Austin dozed off again. I made myself busy with my work. Things were happening fast. I was trying to finish work as much as I could so that I could give her my undecided attention. Mark drove us to our destination in mean time.

We reached Orchid's house. It was a long journey. Mark parked the car in front of the driveway.

"You must be kidding me? Is this girl insane!. No way she is living here alone all by herself."Austin exclaimed as soon as we got out.

His eyes were open wide, nearly falling out of the sockets.

I looked straight ahead. The sight made my face dark instantly.

No wonder we couldn't find her location. How could she thought of living in such an abandoned place.

It was freaking middle in the forest. Far away from the city. It didn't even have access to the net connection. Was she living here all by herself? My fist tightened in my pocket.

"Let's go " I moved forward. I gritted my jaw as I observed the place. It was beautiful but dangerously beautiful.

Her cottage was surrounded by dense wood. A waterfall not far away. An open garden. No traces of any house by so far. I could see many footprints of wild animals on her front door. Some of them were wolves, some bear and.

I took a sharp breath.

She was practically living in such a isolated area without any protection. This woman would be death of me.

Austin stood like a statue. My men came by. I gave them a small node. I would handle it from now. They were keeping an eye on her for me. I was glad I did that. Judging by the scenario she definitely needed security.

I made sure they kept their distance from my little one. I didn't want her to get suspicious.

Austin pressed the bell. We wait patiently. No response. He rung few times more yet no response. He was getting anxious so was I .

"Is she home or went somewhere?"

Austin snapped at the guards. He happened to very edgy from yesterday.

"Sir, Mam is still here. She didn't leave the house. I swear." The guards replied helplessly

"You can go now" I dismiss them. I knew better than anyone to trust my men. They never sulk in their duty.

Austin anxiously pressed the bell, even knocked on the gate but still no response.

I was getting worried. I hope she was fine. I thought to break the door. But I heard the door open.

Lord help me. Could she be more beautiful! I forgot to breathe for a second.

My gaze landed on her face. She looked irritated. I chuckled inwardly. My adorable Little one.

"What is this?" Her voice came out raspy.

Even in sleepy stage she looked like a goddess. I eyed her head to toe. Even though couldn't see her properly as she was hiding behind the half open door. It was enough for me to take my breath away.

Who will believe that the most ruthless mafia king of Russia was smitten by a small kitten?

"Will you say something or what?" She asked again when we both stay mum. This time her voice sounded shaky. I frown a little.

My eyes were searching for her eyes but they were barely open. Something was off.

Her face was pale as sheet, eyes were fluffy and red, she was barely holding the door open, trying to be conscious.

"Are you sick? " Both Austin and I asked her at the same time. He noticed that too.

She snapped opened her eyes then drifted from mine to Austin.

Shocked filled her face. She blinked few times to get rid of the sleepiness. Her face went from confusion to anger.

"How the hell do you get my address ?" She screamed at Austin who was standing just before her.

"I - I we just..." Austin shuttered, visibly scared.

"Nevermind ." She didn't give time to explain slammed the door shut. No one dared to do that ever.

Forget that she didn't even acknowledge me. It's ok little one. I will made sure to have your all attention.

"Kiddo, listen please" Austin shouted recovering from the rejection.

Something snapped in him. He bang the door desperately. I sighed inwardly. It's really going to be a long day.

Orchid POV

"Home sweet home" I mummered as I crashed on my bed .

It felt so good to finally lay on my bed. So comfy, so peaceful.

It was already down and I am so f*****g tired. I didn't bother to eat dinner. All I need was sleep. It didn't take much time for me to drift into deep sleep.

Ring ... Ring..

"Ummm stop." I muttered, snuggling more into my pillow.

Who was calling me this morning? The ringing stopped. I made myself more comfortable.

But my happiness didn't last long, the phone rang again.

"Uuugggghh"

My hand roamed over the bed. Couldn't find it. I didn't want to wake up.

But My phone kept ringing.

"f**k"

Where is it?

Why the hell it was not stopping.. uhh finally I found my phone under the pillow.

The sound kept coming. It was not from my phone.

It was from the door. Someone banging it.

Aaahhh...

I got up irrigated. The ground felt ice beneath my warm feet. It was freezing. I stood up only to sit again. I felt lightheaded. I had to hold my head to calm down.The constant knocking making it worse.

"I must have forgotten to take my pills yesterday." I mummered under my breath.

I checked my phone, it was freaking 8 AM. Who was dying this morning?

I forced myself to get up. I slowly walked down the hall with the support of the wall. I didn't realize until now how tired I was. My entire body hurt like it was on fire.

My head was exploding, I couldn't open my eyes, they were so heavy. My throat was closing up And this knocking..

"stop it" I screamed annoyed.

Knock... knock.. knock...

Did someone die? If it was some crazy hikers, I swear I would kick their asses off. Finally I reached the front door and open it enough to peak.

"What is this ?"

I literally screamed out of irritation but my voice came out hoarse. My eyes were foggy. The heaviness of the head wasn't helping much. I couldn't focus on the people but was sure it was some men.

"Are you sick ?" Two people asked me the same question at the same time. They somehow sounded so familiar.

I tried to focus then everything snapped. I couldn't believe they found me. How the hell did he get to know I was here? Did he follow me here? He better not?

"How the hell do you get my address ?" I was beyond pissed. It had to be a nightmare.

"I - I we just..." Austin shuttered, it only frustrated me more.

"Nevermind".

I closed the door with a loud bang. I could care less at this moment. My head was spinning.

I needed to take my pills. I sat on the sofa taking a couple of breaths to steady myself. This was not good.

"Kiddo listen please " I could hear Austin's pleading.

Fuck him. I searched for my pills. I couldn't remember where I put them.

"Open the door Kiddo. I will not go unless I talk to you." Austin shouted again.

Oh heaven, please send him home.

"Kiddo. Open the door please. Just listen to me once. Please. "

I didn't bother to reply, I couldn't. What the hell he wanted to talk? There was nothing to talk about. My body was shutting down. I should have listened to Dr. Robert. Medicine should be in the kitchen.

I literally crawled to the kitchen. I managed to take the pills. Sat down on the floor to rest a bit. My head was still spinning. My senses getting numb.

I hadn't eaten last night. I was hungry but I didn't have the strength to cook right now.

"Open the door Kiddo or else I am going to break it."

Ahhgghh why couldn't he just understand that I didn't want to talk to him. I waited for him to go. But he was persistent.

"Kiddo opens the door."

He was right he won't go unless I let him in. It was better if we talked and cleared things out. No way I was going back to that life.

Damnit. The hunger and fatigue all made me lose my sense. I opened the door for him. I didn't have the strength to argue with him so I just went in and sat on the couch leaning on it.

Weren't he tired of waiting? Why he have to be so Stubborn?

Austin tailed behind me " I know you love me . You can't be mad with your brother for so long." I dugded him like a plague when he tried to hug me.

If he was thinking I was going to accept him into my life then he was wrong.

"You wish, just say whatever you want to say then leave please."

I knew my words were hurting him but it wad good for everyone if he left me alone.

My eyes were getting heavier. I hardly could open them. I could sense he was with someone but I could not really place it. The last thing I heard was my name. Then everything went blank.
