Chapter 18 Nightmare

Lorenzo POV

"You sure you will be fine ?"

Austin asked for the 10th time. I got it. He didn't want to leave Orchid in this condition. He was afraid that Orchid would misunderstand, not seeing him here by her side when she woke up.

"You mean, how better I will be taken care of my wifey than you. ".

I stated the obvious fact. Austin would not leave unless he got a clear answer.

But he should go. Not because he needed to attend a very important client, who was coming from China today. I could have send Mark alone. But I wanted them to know who they were dealing with.

Besides Austin needed some fresh air. It would divert him from all the chaos. He would do nothing but to blame him if he stayed any longer. Work always had knocked some sense in his head. It would be refreshing for him.

I was doing this only because I didn't want him to mess things up when he face Orchid.

More over he couldn’t cancel the meeting. It was fixed months ago and Mr. Chy had already landed here in Russia. If we canceled it now it would take another 6 months to reschedule it. I could not wait that long. We needed the weapons as soon as possible. It would be better if we had more security. Now that Orchid was here, it became necessary.

Austin would handle it perfectly. My present would have made a greater impact. But I could not bare to leave MY little one. Not even with Austin. He wouldn't able to say a single word without shuttering.

It sounded cliche but only I had the right to take care of my wifey no-one else, not even her brother. He could when Orchid was all good.

“Sigh..." Austin sighed in defeat.

"Ok. I am going. But You will inform me everything every 20 minutes." Austin sulked not forgetting to give me a glare. I stopped myself from chuckling.

"I have made some soup for her, it's in the fridge. Give her after warming it when she wakes up, Okay" Austin hold my gaze. It made me arch my eyebrow. He was seeking for my assurance. He could be stubborn as f**k.

"Ok." I dropped my eyes on my files again. I didn't make things difficult for him anymore. I heard him breath in relief.

He kissed Orchid's hand one more time.

"Sleep tight Kiddo, I will be here as soon as possible and Your brother loves you"

Austin caressed Orchid's checks before letting go of her completely.

"Don’t try anything stupid, Loren". He warned me. Looked like his protective brother nature was coming out.

Austin was not happy knowing that I changed Orchid's clothes when he was in the kitchen. He finally realized that his baby sister wasn’t a baby anymore. She was a married woman. Let's just say he was having problem digesting the truth. Reality sinking into him slowly.

This time I couldn't help but smirked. Austin didn’t say anything more. Glancing one more time at Orchid he left, clearly reluctant.

Waver also left after checking Orchid, it was just me and my little one. Her fever cooled down completely. She would be waking up any time soon. It was better if I warm the soup. It was lunch time already.

I made my way to the kitchen. Austin made a variety of soups. Vegetable soups, Chicken soups, mushroom soup. I warm one of them.

If you wondering we both know how to cook. Considering the fact that we had to master all the skills important for survival. In our professions we always in danger so we needed to prepare ourselves for everything, literally everything.

I headed toward Orchid's room after finishing up. A faint muffle sob tore my heart. It was coming from Orchid's room. I quicken my pace.

In an instant I was on her side.

"Angel.. Angel"

I wiped her tears and try to wake her up. She was crying in her sleep.

She was fine, sleeping peacefully then what happened in these few minutes. Was she feelings any pain?

Her sobbing was getting louder. It directly strike my heart.

"No please. Don’t l–leave me here, I– I am sorry, please." Her weak plead filled the room.

I froze.

She was having a nightmares ?

“Ssshhh, you are fine, little one. I am right here by your side. I am not leaving you, Never. You are not alone. please Don’t cry."

I hugged her tightly. Wishing to give her the comfort and warm she was seeking.

“No, no no.. D-don’t do this, please. I am terrified of d– darkness. Please don't leave me here alone." Her desperate sob slicing my soul.

Whatever dreams she was having, it was scaring her. I couldn't see her suffering like this.

I hold her tightly, securing into my arms from all the pain and fear.

“You are not alone, my love. I am with you. You are safe, you will never be alone in the darkness ever again. Please calm down my queen " I kissed her forehead. Her sobbing getting louder.

"Shhhh, Open your eyes my love. See I am here. You are safe. Everything is fine. You are not alone. I will get all the lights for you my love. Please calm down."

I kept saying snoothing words caressing her back. But she continued to whimper in my hold.

Her eyes were shut tight, tears were rolling down from it continuously, her lips were trembling.

What made her so scared.

Seeing her like this, I felt helpless. Totally dumbfounded.

"N–no don't hurt me, I beg you. Please"

Orchid begged. My little one begging for safety. Someone hurt her. I f*****g kill them with my own hand. My little one was suffering. Was she suffering like this all these years alone and no-one was beside her?

No..no...She had to come out of her trace. I couldn't see her in pain anymore.

Don't worry my queen, no one will hurt you again not before killing me.

"Angel wake up, You are having a bad dream. You are safe. I wouldn't let anything happen to you. Please little one, open your eyes. See I am right here beside you. I will be here when you open your eyes okay. You are not alone. please don't cry."

I brought her closer to my heart. It was killing me seeing her like this.

I wanted my little tigress back who wasn't afraid to punish someone if they messed up with her.

"You're safe, little one. You're not alone. I am right here." I kept chanting the words.

She finally stopped whimpering but still shaking and hiccuping from the crying. I hugged her more tightly, trying to shield her from all the pains.

This time Orchid snuggled in my embrace like her life depends on me.

A small smile formed on my lips. Her sweet body deodorant intoxicated me completely. I kiss her forehead repeatedly.

"You are safe, little one. Safe. No one can hurt you. " I rested my chin on her head caressing her back. It felt so good having her in my arms.

I ultimately found my peace. She is my peace, my little one, my Queen.

We stayed like this, cuddling each other.

Orchid slowly stirred up in my arms. She flattered her eyes open. The sudden bright light making it hard for her to open her eyes fully. She closed them again.

"You are safe, little one. I am right here." I whispered kissing her head.

"Hmm...." Orchid snuggled in me more. A beautiful smile forming on her lips. She looked damn cute.

I couldn't help but smile too.

I caressed her soft check. Her eyelashes were wet from crying. I wiped them off. She tightly pressed her cheek to my chest. My heart filled with content. I wanted this time to freeze.

I didn't know when she became my world. I couldn't think of my life without her anymore.

Suddenly she opened her eyes fully, removed her head from my chest . I instantly feel cold. Her big amber gold eyes met mine.

She touched my check with her soft hand like she was searching something. A cute frown formed on her forehead. I placed my hand on her. Her eyes got wider if that possible. She immediately withdrew it.

Her body shivered under my gaze.

"Y–you..?"
