He was to use their metal and share his proceeds after 'work'. He quickly agreed but first he had to recruit his team.  After a week or so of pondering who to convince to join him he remembered his friend who lived in a neighboring estate. They hooked up discussed the issue but they bitterly differed. In fact the friend felt insulted by such kind of life approach. Dan moved to the slums  to try his luck there. Plumbing broke down, and human waste was thrown in the streets along with the garbage. Contagious diseases spread rapidly in such cramped, unsanitary housing. People were always hungry. Every day children became orphaned, and many had to take care of even younger children. Orphans often lived on the streets, begging for bits of bread from others who had little or nothing to share. In order to survive, children had to be resourceful and make themselves useful. Small children in the ghetto sometimes helped smuggle food to their families and friends by crawling through narrow openings in the ghetto wall. They did so at great risk, as smugglers who were caught were severely punished. With such kind of an environment it was easy to get accomplices. He continued targeting the vulnerable group and soon his house was full. He established himself as the king pin of that area who would unleash terror to anyone with anything looking valuable.
