LEE’S
POV.
5 YEARS LATER.
“Lee
Alexander Bruce, wife of the billionaire IT expert, has finally completed the
project she has been working on for two years.
My
husband switched off the TV and came to join me on the bed.
“I am so
proud of you, babe; you have achieved so much in such little time; you are
indeed a virtuous woman, and I am so proud to call you my wife.
“I am so
grateful for all you’ve done for me, Alex. You gave me hope when the world came
crashing down on me; you have shown me love more than anything else.
I was
having a moment with my husband when the kids came into the room without
knocking. They jumped on us and interrupted our moment.
“Mummy!
Daddy!!! Read us a bedtime story.
“Are you
kidding me? I thought you guys were already asleep.
“We can't
sleep, mummy. Tell us a story.
“Not
tonight, kids; your mom had a long day at work. Come, I’ll tell you guys a
story.
The kids
followed their dad; Liam and Lilly were the best thing that ever happened to
me. I was shocked when the scan showed that I was carrying twins, but Alex was
my backbone; he was there to support me all through the journey. We got married
when I was three months pregnant, and it has been bliss all through. Even
though Alex’s mom doesn't approve of our marriage, we still went ahead with it.
She wanted him to marry an international model, but Alex never liked her.
I was the
wife of a billionaire, but I was faceless. I hid my face from the internet, and
every time I was seen, I was wearing a mask. Liam and Lilly were so fond of
Alex; they thought he was their biological father because he never gave them
any reason to doubt; his love for them was strong.
I changed
my name to Lee Alexander Bruce, I changed my hair, and I underwent facelift
surgery after giving birth. I did all of that because I didn't want my past to
haunt me. Alex came back to the room with a smile on his face, and I could tell
that the kids were bombarding him with questions after his storytelling.
“God has
blessed us with such adorable kids. Liam talks like an adult, and it amazes me
how they grow up fast.
“When are we going to tell them the truth?
“What
truth?
“About
their paternity.
“Why is
that even necessary? They are just kids; they will know in due time, but for
now, allow me to enjoy the moment with my kids; they are the best thing that
has ever happened to me. Come on, rest your head; you have a long day tomorrow,
so relax and stop worrying your pretty
head.
Ben and
Jane have been childless for years now, Jane tried all she could to take in but non was working. Ben
started staying up late at night and drinking, and
when he came home that night, he found Jane going through my page on i********:.
“What are
you doing?
“I just
saw this very beautiful jacket on Lee’s Fashion’s site; this is really cute.
“Do you
want to get it?
“Yes!! I will order it by month-end.
“That jacket costs $3,900; we cannot afford it now.
“I do not
care; even if I have to take out a loan to get it, I will. Lee is my idol; she
is my star, and I love her. This is the only way to be her top fan by shopping
for her items, but it is quite unfortunate that she doesn't really flaunt her
face on the internet.
“She is
the wife of the second richest man in New York; maybe she is avoiding scandals.
I won't blame her, but I hear that she is so beautiful. I have a meeting with
her product manager tomorrow, and by the grace of God, I know I will meet her.
Meeting her would be a great privilege, not just for me but for my company too.
“Omg!!! You are meeting with Lee
tomorrow? Can I come with you?
"No,
you cannot; all you care about is spending the money I make. The rent will be
due soon, but you are not worried about that; all you care about is spending
money on frivolities.
“Maybe if
I had married a wealthy man like Alexander Bruce, I wouldn't have to worry
about paying rent. You complain about everything when you work so much and have
nothing to show for it.
“How dare
you talk to me like that?
Ben
raised his hand to hit Jane, but she held it in midair.
“What do
you think you are doing? Do you want to hit me? The day you try this will be
the end of your life because I won't stop until I kill you. Ben left Jane’s
grip and went to the bathroom to freshen up. He came back afterwards and laid
down to sleep.
“You are
just a useless man; you cannot even provide the money I asked for when other
men are out there spoiling their wives.
Ben dozed
off without saying a word to Jane. On the other hand, I woke up with a bright
smile. Alex was already up, and by the time I turned around, I saw that he had
brought breakfast for me.
“Thank
you so much, babe.
“Enjoy
your meal.
After I
was done with my food, I showered and put on my clothes. It was going to be a
long day, but I didn't mind because I loved what I was doing. I got to work and my assistant was reading
out my schedule for the week. I had so many meetings planned for the day and I
didn't know which one to start with. I finally decided to see the web designer
and the meeting was supposed to take place in the conference hall. The web
designer was already waiting for me with his team.
Immediately
I got in, I was face-to-face with my ex-husband, Ben. He
was shocked to see me; he couldn't believe I was the owner of the
multi-billionaire fashion house he was coming
to work for.
“Lena?
Ben spoke
in disbelief. He couldn't tell if I was the
one or not.
