EpilogueMoving forward for Lyla requires taking several steps back. She goes back to college and gets a degree in architecture and design. It turns out that she has an aptitude for building things and a good eye for aesthetics, though she does not pursue a career in that once she's graduated either. She ends up working at the reception desk at Theodore's office because he likes having her there and she really does enjoy being close to him. Theodore becomes a stable fixture in her life, though he is very careful not to make her feel indebted to him. Seeing as she is one of Jackson's victim's who have been laughably underpaid for all the work she's carried out for him, she has received an impressive amount as compensation.
