Neil watched as his brother went into the house. Neil didn’t know what to make of this, of Diana. He liked Diana and Emily. They were not only his brothers’ wives, they were his friends, his sisters. He glanced at his mom, who was staring at him with a determination he wasn’t sure he liked.
“Where’s Candy?” he said.
“Out back with Emily, by the pool,” she replied. It was then he noticed his mom was in sandals and a swimsuit cover that draped to her knees. “Diana is in the pool still, or that’s where she was when I went into the kitchen and heard you drive in. I think you should talk to her, too. Jed’s her husband, but I know you all look out for one another and for the mothers of my grandkids.”
