Chapter1: Secretary on the Bed
Alexander Montgomery, a 42-year-old businessman, incredibly handsome, immensely wealthy, and utterly single. He is the only son of the Montgomery family, a billionaire family closely watched by the world. He is the dream man for many women, yet Alexander refuses to settle down with a wife. He dates a myriad of women, from beauty queens to actresses, both in America and abroad, bringing them to his bed from almost every corner of the industry. However, he still has no intention of settling down with anyone seriously.
The reason is a secret... indeed, a secret that no one knows, not even the secretary who has served him for many years.
Elizabeth Thorne, or, as Alexander often calls her, ‘Beth’, has been working at Alexander's company since she graduated, and she is now nearly 28 years old.
She knows everything about Alexander, particularly his taste in women. Alexander likes bold, adventurous women, those with great skills, and women with large breasts. She is the one who screens women to match her boss's taste and delivers them to his bed every night or whenever Alexander desires.
But who would know that beneath her thick glasses and modest attire, she hides a secret that will remain a secret forever.
She harbors a secret love for Alexander...
Yes... she loves him, but she knows full well that he will never love a plain, unremarkable secretary like her.
She doesn't even register on Alexander's radar. He never looks at her the way a man looks at a woman. She is just an assistant who understands him well. Yet, she endures, watching him take other women to bed, just because she doesn't want to be away from him.
“What are you thinking about, Beth?”
Alexander stands with his arms crossed, looking at the secretary who has worked with him for so long that they know each other inside out. To be honest, Elizabeth knows him better than he knows himself.
He still vividly remembers the first day he worked with the girl with thick glasses who dressed like a kindergarten teacher, Elizabeth. She came for a job interview but ended up spilling coffee on him. He should have dismissed her and hired someone else, but for some reason, he chose her. That choice never disappointed him in the slightest because Elizabeth performed her duties as a personal secretary excellently, even though she wasn't sexy in the way he wanted from a secretary.
She was skilled, meticulous, and thorough in everything, and sometimes even helped him resolve situations effectively. That's why he wouldn't let her leave, keeping her with a generous salary. But that wasn't the only job she excelled at, because Elizabeth also did an outstanding job of arranging the women he would sleep with. She selected women who matched his preferences perfectly.
"Uh... Boss..."
The young woman was jolted out of her thoughts when the voice of her boss, who she thought about constantly, rang out. She turned to look at him and found him standing not far away, looking irresistibly handsome, with his dark eyes gazing at her and a smile on his face.
"Why do you look so surprised? Or are you thinking about your boyfriend?"
He walked closer, making her heart race, but she had to conceal it under a calm expression, without showing any emotion.
"I... don't have a boyfriend, Boss."
"It's hard to believe you're twenty-seven now, Beth. In a few months, you'll be twenty-eight. Haven't you thought about starting a family?"
She forced a slight smile.
"I just haven't met someone I like yet."
He nodded slightly, folding his arms as he looked at her intently.
"Then it's probably the same as me. The reason I haven't married is because I haven't met the right woman."
"But Boss sleeps with many women..."
"That's just my body's way of needing release."
He laughed as if it were a joke, but she couldn't find it funny at all.
"I understand."
He smiled again, a devastatingly handsome smile, but all she could do was look, having no right to touch.
"Do you remember last night's party, Beth?"
"Uh, I remember."
He smiled again.
"I want that model. Arrange for her to be with me for two days and two nights. I'll pay generously."
She felt a deep pain every time she knew he would be with someone else, but she had to smile and do her duty.
"I contacted her personal manager, and she has agreed to participate in the event."
"Very good. You are the best secretary I've ever had so far, Beth."
"Thank you, boss."
"This year, I'll give you a ten percent salary raise and a special bonus."
She nodded to Alexander, even though her heart was aching terribly. If she had a choice, she wouldn't be doing this.
"Thank you again, boss."
"Okay, then please prepare the meeting documents for ten o'clock. We'll attend the meeting together."
"Yes, boss."
The tall man in a sleek business suit walked back into his office, but she continued to watch until the wooden door closed completely.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but fortunately, her thick glasses helped hide her vulnerability.
She placed a hand over her chest, where her heart was, and murmured painfully,
"It hurts... so bad..."
"Why are you home so early today, dear?"
Beth walked into the house at two in the afternoon, prompting her mother, who was hanging clothes, to ask out of curiosity. Normally, she never returned home before eight in the evening.
"Today, there's a company party, Mom. The boss let me come home to get ready."
"Oh, I forgot. You did tell me, Beth,"
Mom said with a shy smile, laughing it off.
"I might be home late tonight, Mom."
"That's okay, Beth. You're grown up now. You can take care of yourself. I'm not worried."
"And you'll be okay alone, right?"
"Oh, I'm not alone. I have four furry friends here."
Before she could finish, four large dogs joyfully bounded towards Beth, licking and pawing at her clothes until they were marked. But the young woman never got upset with them because she knew they loved and missed her.
"Wow, you're really licking me a lot..."
She laughed cheerfully and played happily with the dogs, under the watchful and content gaze of her mother.
"Milo, Luna, Coco, Ziggy, go play somewhere else now."
Her mother gently instructed the dogs, and they obediently ran off to play in the garden beside the house. She watched them with affection.
"Being a dog would be nice, Mom. You wouldn't have to think much, just wait for your owner to come back and play with you."
"Does saying that mean something's bothering you, dear?"
Her mother walked over and gently patted her head.
"Let it go, Beth. That's what the monks teach."
She forced a smile for her mother.
"I was just saying, Mom. It's nothing, really. By the way, do you have any food prepared today? If not, I can go buy some for you."
"I've got some leftover mackerel. I was thinking of making some shrimp paste chili dip."
Elizabeth touched her mouth.
"That sounds delicious. I wish I could stay and eat."
"I'll make it for you tomorrow then. Today, you should go to the party with your boss."
She gave a sad smile but quickly shook it off, not wanting her mother to worry.
"Alright, Mom. I'll go take a shower now."
"Take your time. Oh, how will you get there?"
"The boss is stopping by to pick me up."
Victoria smiled widely.
"Your boss is nice, really caring towards his employees."
"The boss is kind to everyone, Mom."
She forced another smile for her mother before stepping into the house, her face turning sad once her mother wasn't looking.
She had to endure smiling and laughing while inside she was deeply hurt—especially when she had to send another woman to his bed.
Duty... Keep reminding yourself it's just duty...
She told herself firmly in her heart, but couldn't stop the sadness.
