Chapter15: Secretary on the Bed
Alexander woke up later than usual because he hardly got any sleep last night, having spent the night with Elizabeth almost every hour.
His large hand swept across the bed beside him, and the emptiness he felt made him open his eyes and turn to look at the bed next to him.
“Beth...”
He murmured the woman's name softly before sitting up, completely bare.
“Where did she go so early in the morning?”
Alexander swung his legs off the bed, picked up the robe Elizabeth had draped over the chair in front of the vanity, and put it on before heading out of the bedroom.
He looked for her everywhere before following the scent of food into the kitchen, where he saw the woman standing in front of the stove.
