Chapter17: The Secretary's Dilemma
"Why did you come to work so early today, Beth? You're even here before the housekeeper."
A colleague teased her when they saw her sitting at her desk so early in the morning.
"I just woke up early today and didn't know what to do, so I thought I might as well come to work," she lied, because in truth, she hadn't woken up early; she hadn't slept at all the night before.
"I'm going to grab some coffee first, Beth. I'll come back and chat with you later."
"Sure."
She watched her younger colleague walk away until she was out of sight, then turned to look at the usual elevator that Alexander used, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Why is the boss so late today?"
She waited for his appearance, and after nearly an hour of waiting, Alexander finally emerge
