Hospital Visit

The next couple of weeks were a blur. Irene still wasn't ready to face Seth, she was moving into Jade's place. She felt nervous now when she went out, constantly wondering if James was following her. Not to mention she had been feeling really nauseous lately. She had chalked that up to her nerves. Today though the nausea was different, it sent her running for the bathroom first thing that morning. Hugging the toilet her stomach emptied all the contents from the night before. She felt so ill, she needed to see a doctor. Jade was at work already.

She decided to see if she could drive herself to the doctors. Irene's phone buzzed with a message from Seth. Babe I hate not seeing you so we can talk about what happened. Can I please see you today? As her stomach heaved again Irene knew she might not be able to drive herself to the doctor. She messaged Seth back that she was at Jades house and the door was unlocked. She didn't feel much like talking or letting Seth see her so sick but something felt wrong.

Seth felt himself smile in relief that Irene had finally reached out to him. He hadn't been sleeping much lately. Patience had never been a very strong suit of his and going without seeing her for the last three weeks had been torturous. He didn't even bother with shaving he wanted to see her so bad. He grabbed the keys to the Jeep and drove quickly to Jade's place. When He arrived there and knocked he heard Irene say hoarsely "It's open."

He came into the apartment and felt his stomach drop at the sight of Irene. She was laying on the bathroom floor pale and sweaty. "Baby what's wrong? What happened?" She could only moan in reply. "I'm going to take you to the hospital right now!" Seth scooped her up. He noticed she seemed to have lost some weight. He carried her to the Jeep and helped her get inside. He broke every traffic law there was racing to the hospital.

He felt so scared Irene was practically unconscious as he rushed he into the emergency department. Instantly she was surrounded by nurses and doctors. Everyone was asking him questions and he was trying to answer them the best he knew how. Since he wasn't family he was left in the waiting room pacing back and forth. He called Jade to let her know that Irene was in the hospital. Jade was there a quick ten minutes later.

"What happened Seth?"

"I have no idea, I asked to see her today so we could finally talk and when I got to your place she was pale and sweaty. It freaked me out so I brought her here. They won't tell me anything yet."

"The stress is probably making her sick. She hasn't been eating much lately." Jade filled him in on how the Irene had been getting stalked by her ex. He felt sick not knowing that she had been going through all that alone.

Irene felt opened her eyes and found herself in a hospital room. How did she get here? Everything felt kind of fuzzy in her head. Then she remembered Seth had scooped her up right before she had passed out. He must of brought her here. She moved to sit up and felt dizzy  decided against sitting up for the moment. A doctor walked into the room.

"How are you feeling Ms.Foxe? I'm Dr. Hunt, I'm in charge of your care today"

"Tired, dizzy and sick. What's going on with me?" Irene asked

"Well being pregnant can do that sometimes." The doctor replied, pausing when she saw Irene's look of total shock. "You didn't know you were pregnant?" Irene shook her head no still speechless. "You are around one month it looks like, you need to see an OBGYN and start prenatal care right away. I'll get someone in here so we can pull up an ultrasound." Dr. Hunt made some notes in her chart and left the room

Irene sat there in complete shock. Pregnant! What was she going to tell Seth? Would he be happy, would he be angry? This was just too much to try and process. She heard alarms start blaring as her heart rate started to increase along with her breathing. She was starting to hyperventilate and couldn't calm herself down. Two nurses rushed into the room and gave her something to help calm her down. They told her to rest before they could do the ultrasound.

There was a soft knock on her door frame to her room. Jade poked her head in "hey babe, how are you feeling?" Irene felt her eyes watering up and she started crying. Jade rushed in the room and climbed up in the bed right next to her and held her. She calmed down enough to say the word "pregnant" before she starting crying again. Jade let her get it all out while patting her head. "Listen babe, I know you got a lot going on right now but you're not alone. There's a rather handsome man pacing the waiting room while he waits to see if you want to talk to him. You guys both need to talk to each other. You'll feel better about everything once you do."

"Do you want me to tell him that he can come in?" Irene blew her nose on a tissue and nodded her head. "You're right Jade we do have a lot to talk about. Tell him he can come in and I'll call you later."

Jade waved to Seth letting him know he could come back to Irene's room. He let out a huge sigh of relief. He entered the room and made his way over to her bedside. He leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead. Jade said goodbye to the both of them and left the room.

"Oh Irene, I've missed you so much. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you about who I was." Seth was holding her small hand his eyes were watery with emotion. He started to say something else and Irene pressed a finger to his lips.
