Sunlight came through the long dark curtains shining directly into Seth's face. He shifted to move the bright beams away. His head was splitting from the hangover he earned last night. His body was tangled up in his custom thread sheets. His face was sporting a five a clock shadow. Seth had gone out partying last night with a bunch of friends. If he was being honest with himself two or three from the group were his real true friends. Everyone else only hung out with him because he was rich and they were hoping for free drinks.Or to rub elbows with someone who was in the public image. Sometimes being a billionaire was mentally exhausting. Other times it was nice be able to do things just because he was so rich.
Seth stretched out on his long muscular body. His dark brown hair was still wet from the shower he managed to grab before passing out. It was slightly tangled but manageable. He couldn't even really remember all the drinks he had consumed the night before. The night had started off small with just a couple of beers. Then someone had ordered shots and that's where his memory felt a little fuzzy to say the least. At least today he wasn't waking up with someone he didn't remember going to sleep with. His last fling had been with a peppy little blond called Amber. She had been quite timid in the bedroom but wasn't shy when she told him she was looking for someone to basically spoil her. She was fun for a sleepover but just another person after his fortune.
In all honesty Seth wasn't looking for anything very serious. Something his happily-married buddy Travis always gave him grief about. Travis had been lucky in love. Met his soulmate back in high school. They had been friends since little league. Travis was constantly telling him how he needed to find someone to settle down with. To quit hooking up with people he didn't really even have feelings for. Seth knew he had a point but he had yet to meet anyone who’s made him feel a connection that was deep.
When you had a billionaire fortune how could you tell if someone was really after you as a person or just after the fortune he controlled. He rolled out of bed and made his way to the bathroom for some aspirin. Entering his master bathroom he grabbed a glass from the cabinet and filled it with cold water from the tap. Shaking out a couple of pain killers he swallowed it down. Bending over the sink he ran some more water so he could rinse his face off.
Though he invested a lot of his money he didn't have a real job. His money was family money. Most of his days were spent lounging around his enormous place, going to the gym, spending money on things he didn't need and his nights partying hard. In all honesty even though he wasn't looking for a serious commitment he was starting to feel lonely living his bachelor life.
He didn't have a maid or cook even though he could afford both easily. Seth felt like if he opened his place to share with anyone he didn't want it to be with someone who would be on his salary. Also he felt like having either was a bit of a cliche. He actually enjoyed cooking for himself. He was always trying new recipes. His phone buzzed with a message from Travis. You alive today buddy?-T
He smiled at his friends concern and shot back a quick reply Takes more than a couple of drinks to put me out of commission
Seth strolled over to his closet to get dressed for the day. He threw on a tank top and gym shorts, he was in need of a good workout to sweat out the toxins he consumed the night before. Grabbing the keys for his Lamborghini he hopped in and drove off to the private gym he belonged to. Most of the members there were just as filthy rich as he was. He liked the privacy that came with being a client there. No one really bothered anyone else and all the equipment was state of the art.
He slid some headphones into his ears and made his way over to the treadmill. Adjusting the settings he began his late morning run on the machine. Settling into a good pace he started working up a nice sweat. The back of his shirt was getting damp so he pulled it off and over his head. Sweat beads were running down his well toned abs. His feet were keeping a steady rhythm he increased the incline of the treadmill.
He had always loved jogging like this. It was the perfect way to clear out his thoughts and think of nothing except for the next step. After doing the treadmill for twenty five minutes he powered it down and headed over to the weight bench. He did several sets for another ten minutes. Feeling a like he had gotten a good workout in, he toweled himself off and grabbed a fresh shirt from his gym locker. Pulling his shirt over his head he thought he would go and grab a coffee on his way home before he took a shower.
Seth had heard there was a really good coffee shop not far from the gym and figured he would go check that out. Pulling into the coffee shop he glanced up at the name above it’s door Java Bean. Sounded a little corny but he was craving caffeine so he pushed the door open. The smell of freshly brewed coffee combined with bakery scents hit him in the face. He took a deep breath of appreciation, his eyes scanned the menu to read what roasts were available for the day.
“Can I have a tall Scotland blend please?” The barista behind the counter punched his order in on the screen in front of her. “I would also like one of those blueberry scones “ he added. She got his order together, he paid and left. Heading home for his shower.
