I stood at the bottom of the steps. Geneva and mother were already weeping. Tycho was standing along the wall. This was one of the happiest days of my life. No. The happiest day of my life was when I saved Rayne and she asked me to help her. She walked down the stairs and her white gown was magnificent. On the fourth step, she looked at the house filled with our friends and family.
“Rayne Colburn, in front of friends and family, I want to ask you something. We recently had our bond ceremony, but on Earth you have a customary tradition when two people love each other.” I walked up to her, got down on one knee and opened the palm of my hand to reveal a huge sparkling diamond. “Will you marry me?”
Throwing her arms around my neck, she jumped into my arms. “Yes.”
