I moved closer to Zyaire. There was something about their presence that rattled me. Bendali and this new guy, Trejid, just seemed off. Zyaire’s hand ran down the small of my back, and I arched into his touch. Trejid didn’t look like Bendali. He was a green towering, brooding alien that observed more than he talked.
They are probably planning to hand us over as soon as we get to their base.
Trejid sat forward. His beady eyes scanning my face. “Do you remember what happened to cause those men to die back there? Were they killed by your people?”
I’m glad they think we are not alone.
Licking my lips, I put a hand to my temple. “Everything happened so fast, and I was hit over the head, before our team could reach me.”
