Sevan told them the story of his boils and the journey they had taken to meet Notseldduh, so Ay-ttho attempted to set the Mastery of the Stars down as close to the location Sevan had described as possible but there was no sign of Notseldduh or his encampment.
Then Sevan described the journey they had taken to the Çatalhöyükans, so they took off again and Ay-ttho bordered the sodium lake until they found the Çatalhöyükan settlement.
When they arrived, smoke was emerging from many of the homes but otherwise it appeared deserted. They landed and no-one arrived to greet them.
On closer inspection, they found each dwelling contained the charred remains of its occupants. Someone had apparently wiped out the entire community.
“You shouldn’t blame yourself.”
Sevan turned and saw Notseldduh.
