TIME [3:00 PM]
In AK Corporation's headquarters.....
Alex was busy in his office with some paperwork of the company. His office was not the liveliest one, however. It was quite spacious, but it was a plain white painted office which gave serious and hard vibes. There was hardly any color other than white walls and grey colored furnitures.
While he was fully immersed in his work, a knock on the door disturbed his concentration and made him glance up at the door.
Thinking it must be someone from the office, Alex ordered, "Come in." The door opened and Jacob's cheery face popped out.
"Hello brother. Good evening." He greeted.
'Oh God, why is he here?' Alex cursed in his mind. 'Obviously to irritate you, Alex,' his mind replied back at him. 'Ugh.'
Planning to neatly avoid this annoying critter, Alex tried to drown in his work again and started what he was doing before.
"Big bro, see who's here? Your cute little brother....hehe," Jacob cackled, heading toward Alex's table.
When he didn't get any response from his tough brother, Jacob leaned on the table and said, still smiling, "Dear brother, are you trying to ignore me?"
Alex still didn't mind him and continued working. Jacob decided to go a step further. He went around the table and pulled Alex's chair from behind.
Alex had had enough of it. He had tried to control it all this time, but this was the last straw. Alex got up, his chair flying and shouted at him in freaking rage, "What the hell!!! Why are you here? Don't you have anything to study or work apart from talking nonsense all day and bothering me? Get out and leave me alone already. I'm busy and not in the mood of bickering with you."
Jacob was normally never affected by his brother's anger, because well, Alex was Alex. But this time, fearless Jacob's legs trembled a little with exactly what it was. Fear. 'Why is he so pissed off? Did something happen?'
Complete silence fell over the office as Alex shot death stares at his annoying brother, while Jacob tried to keep himself unaffected.
The younger brother slowly moved and came in front of the table, facing Alex. He finally mustered up some courage and retorted back in a heavy tone, acting like he didn't notice the fury in Alex's eyes a minute ago. "Oh brother! Why are you so worked up? I am here for some important business talk, brother. You don't have to go all Armageddon on me."
Alex scoffed at the word 'important'. "You and something important? These words are completely incompatible, Jake." Alex said with a straight face, sitting down and staring at the papers. "Don't joke with me. I told you I'm not in the mood. "
"I'm not joking. I'm very serious, Alex," Jacob answered with an offended tone.
"Oh really? Then tell me what is it? I would like to hear that 'important' work of yours."
"Actually..." Jacob started, rubbing his neck unconsciously, "My college professor wants to meet mother, but I can't let him see mother. Please help me and come with me instead, please," Jacob pleaded making innocent puppy eyes.
"Meet mother? Why? What did you do this time? Care to explain?" Alex still hadn't looked up. He wasn't even surprised that Jacob came to him with such a thing. He already knew his brother's important things.
"Uhh…" Jacob stalled before saying, "It was nothing. I just had a fight with some bastards who were troubling my juniors."
Alex looked up now, frowning at first before his eyes glazing over with realisation. "So you want me to help you with a lie?"
"You are very smart and intelligent, big bro. But you can't say it's a lie. You are helping your little brother after all. You only need to say that our mother is out of the city today and have to handle my complaints. They'll believe you because you are Alexander Smith. That's it." Jacob said with shining eyes, "You are coming with me, right?" he asked happily, as nothing happened there a few minutes ago.
This guy...unbelievable. He has no shame.
"Why should I help you? What do I get from this?" Alex asked, leaning back on his chair.
'Oh God... I forgot he is a business man...always thinks about his profit,' Jacob thought in his head.
After some other thoughts Jacob answered, "I know! You do this for me and in return I won't show you my cute face for one whole day. I promise."
Alex heard his brother and tried not to smile at the generous offer. "Remember what you said, don't back off."
"Trust me brother. I'll remember. I won't show you my face," Jacob repeated his promise.
Immediately convinced, Alex closed his pen cap instantly and got up. He straightened his shirt and looked up at his brother, "Okay then. I'll take the deal and handle this thing. Do I need to come today or tomorrow?" he asked.
Speechless Jacob looked up at him, dumbstruck at how easy it was to convince him with this offer.
'Am I that much annoying?' Jacob mused.
Glancing at his brother face, Jacob shook his head and replied, "Tomorrow."
"Okay. Now, you can leave as I have many other things to handle too." Alex said, wearing his office coat.
Jacob came out from his stance and grinned, "Tell me brother, are you going on a date, huh??"
"Do you want me to change my mind and deny your offer?"
"No no no. Don't do that. I am leaving already. See, I'm gone." Jake said and ran out of the office without any delay.
Alex saw his brother running like a scared monkey and smiled.
'How can someone be so dramatic?'
When he was about to leave the office, his phone rang.
Answering the call, Alex replied, "Yeah, I'm leaving and will be there in thirty minutes."
...
Somewhere in the city suburbs, two black cars were there facing each other. The road was almost deserted as it was evening time and a very few vehicle crossed this side of city.
Alex stood near the one car, hands folded around the chest. One other young man sat on the same car's hood.
"So, what you want now?" the young man asked.
"You already know your job, Mack." Alex said.
"Who?" Mack asked.
Alex looked ahead in tangled, deep bushes and replied, "Ezekiel."
"But if I'm not wrong then he's your one of the trusted business partner, right? Then why he?" Mack questioned, astonishment written on his face.
"Don't you know that deception is born of the trust." The man replied, with some deep and hard to explain emotions on his stern face.
