Promise

Next Morning. The sun rays softly kissed Kayara's fair skin disturbing her deep slumber. As she opened her eyes she felt a throbbing pain in her head. "Ah... My head…" she drawled, groaning in pain, "It feels so heavy." She sat up on the bed and looked around the room in confusion. "Why am I sleeping in Anna's room?" Then her eyes fell on Anna's serene face, who was sleeping on the sofa. Kayara got out from the bed and left the room swiftly, without making any noise. And what she found in the living room was a big mess of cushions and chairs next to the large window and other things scattered in the room. The table in living room was also in clutter. She saw Sophie in deep sleep on the couch. Kayara placed the balls of her palm on her head when she finally started to realize… OH MY GOD!!! Memories from last night started flooding into her mind. About how she had gotten insanely drunk at the party. Not insane but her limits were very low in case of alcohol tolerance and that was something insane in her case. And she messed up everything in the living room, how she troubled Sophie, how she was jumping on that chair like a maniac. Wait! Wait! She bent forward trying to remember. She had met someone yesterday at the party. 'Was that a dream or I really met him? No…no…no…It wasn't a dream. I actually met him. Oh God!' she told herself. Shaking her head, she pressed her brows with her fingers and slumped back to her bathroom for a shower. She needed to clear her dazed mind first. After the shower, Kayara came out of her room in a lighter mood. By that time, Sophie had also woken up and was heading towards her room. "Good morning, Sophie," Kayara greeted her cheerfully. "Morning, you have already risen. I was coming to wake you up. How are you feeling now? All good?" Sophie asked her, looking her over. "Yes, I'm totally fine." "Okay. Have some lemon tea to relieve your headache. I'll wake her up too. It's her turn to cook breakfast today." "Don't wake her up. Let her take some rest. I'll cook today. You go and get ready for the college." "As you wish," Sophie said, she went to her room to freshen up first. ... After an hour. "Breakfast is ready! Come on guys," Kayara called the girls. When she immersed herself into cooking Anna had also woken up in the meantime and had completed her morning chores. The girls came together at the breakfast table and started digging into their breakfast. "It's time for college…ugh," Sophie said with displeased expressions. "Hmm…" Anna nodded. "When we gonna have that one week off? Have you planned something for that?" "After completing my practical thesis. It will take two more days I guess." "Okay." Anna nodded. "Kayara , did you get your diamond last night or is the mission still in progress?" Anna teased, "Or did you find any prince in your dreams, who promised you to get that diamond?" Anna chuckled, poking Kayara to lighten up the everyone's mood. But Kayara was silent since the start and had boarded on the train of her own thoughts, ignoring their talks. When Kayara didn't give any answer nor any reaction. Sophie, who was sitting on her right side, elbowed Kayara pulling out of her deep thoughts. "Come back to the earth, Kayara. We are expecting a reaction from you. You do remember everything about last night, right?" Sophie teased her friend. Ignoring her question, Kayara turned towards Anna. "Yesterday, I met the real... I mean…I met Alexander at the party." Anna and Sophie both choked on their food and started coughing. Kayara immediately poured out 2 glasses of water and gave it to the girls. "When? Where? How?" both asked in unison with the same shocked faces and wide eyes. "Huh?" Kayara turned to Sophie this time in astonishment, "Sophie, what's going on? Why are you asking about him? Didn't you already reject his proposal? " "I don't think you're talking about the same guy who proposed to me. Clear me one thing. That Alexander who proposed to me and the Alexander with whom you met at the party both are the same person?" Sophie answered the other girl with a new question. "Yeah. Both are the same person," Anna said innocently, nodding without thinking much. 'What is she doing? Did she forget there is no existence of Alexander who proposed to Sophie?' Kayara cursed Anna in her head. "OH MY GOD!! I can't believe it. I can't believe you actually met Alexander Smith." Sophie jumped in joy and hugged Kayara tightly. "Did you two talk?" Kayara jolted with this sudden and overwhelming reaction from Sophie. "Calm down Sophie. Tell us what is it? Why are you so happy with this?" Kayara asked, feeling unease deep down in her heart. Sophie? Happy about a guy? What was happening to the world? "Guys, this is the reason why I always advise you to keep yourself updated with your surroundings. Alexander Smith, he is the grandson of Mr. Adam Smith and currently a high-profile and the youngest business man in the country. And do you know…" Sophie started but she got interrupted. "And who told you that the Alexander who proposed to you is a businessman? I met the one who proposed you and he is a bartender. That stupid bartender. So, don't think much about it. Both are not the same only their names are same. Anna was just blabbering recklessly," Kayara corrected Sophie's notions, much to the girl's disappointment. "Oh...is that so," Sophie said with a sullen look. " But isn't it too much of a coincidence? There last names are also same." " Yeah, it is just a coincidence." Kayara confirmed, she herself was a bit confused whether both were same or not. Initially, Sophie was excited to go to that party only to see Adam's grandson. She saw him at the restaurant the other day and she knew he returned from the other country. However, at the party she searched every corner yet she didn't even see a shadow of him. She concluded that Alexander didn't attend his grandfather's birthday party but when Kayara told them that she met Alexander, she thought Kayara was talking about him. She totally forgot that troublemaker Alexander who recently proposed her out of nowhere. "Sophie.... I thought you hated boys genuinely. I didn't know money influenced your values," Anna observed. "No, it's not like that guys. I still hate men and money doesn't affect my abhorrence towards them. You are taking me wrong in the wrong way," Sophie tried to explain, "Alexander Smith is totally different from other men. He is the only man on earth who somehow caught my attention. And you know what he never have a single girlfriend till the date, despite being so handsome and a heart-throb and surrounded by money. He is a great person who never disrespected any woman in his life. He is…" "Okay okay. We understand Sophie. But it is strange to know that you were stalking a man," Anna chuckled, "Do you have a crush on him or something?" Anna asked, quite interested in this new side of Sophie. "No, I only respect him. Nothing else," Sophie took her stand. "Sophie tell me if you like him. I'll introduce you to him at any rate. I promise," Kayara promised, not knowing the upcoming hurricane heading towards their lives with this dangerous promise. "You know him?" Anna asked shockingly. "No, I don't know him. But I would definitely do it if Sophie have something for him." Kayara responded firmly and looked at Sophie for an answer. Now, she was sure that both Alexander were different because whom she met was completely opposite of what Sophie described. He was a flirt and perverted man, exactly opposite of the great businessman Alexander Smith. Sophie nodded shyly at the offer and ran to her room. "Yahoo...at least our Sophie has a crush on someone. I'm so happy," Kayara shouted happily. "But Kayara…you promised her to introduce them and you don't even know him or his true nature. What if he breaks our Sophie's heart?" Anna asked worriedly. "No. I'll never let that happen," she denied that in a very serious tone. She would go to all ends to make Sophie happy, at the same time protecting her best friend from any storm that came their way.
