Natasha
I had felt so cold that even my heart hurt like it was made from ice. When I woke up, I felt normal again. I was still in Kai’s arms and I blushed now I wasn’t freezing to death.
He was topless and felt so hot against me, it was soothing. I looked up at him as he softly stroked my hair. Seeing me awake, he smiled, “hey babe, how are you feeling?”
“Better,” I smiled.
“Good, shall we test out whether it’s worked?”
“I don’t want to move, you’re so warm and comfy.”
He laughed and said, “you can cuddle up to me again after.” He helped me up and slowly removed the covers and stepped back from me. “How do you feel?”
“Ok, I think.”
“You think?”
I nodded, I wasn’t sure, and I was afraid it would start up again from nowhere. He saw the scared look in my eyes and sighed, “it’s getting late now, come on.” He climbed into one of the single beds and held an arm out to me.
I shyly went over and climbed in beside him. He pulled me close against him and then pulled the covers over us. “Warm enough?” He asked.
“Yes, thank you.”
I wrapped my arm around his waist and laid my head on his chest. My heart was pounding painfully, and I knew he could hear it. It was now or never. “I meant what I said, I like you, Kai,” I whispered into the darkness.
He was quiet, and I wondered if he thought he could stay quiet enough I’d fall asleep before he had to answer me. If words wouldn’t work, maybe action would, he was used to girls pawing at him and confidently taking the lead. I wasn’t confident, but I tried.
I lightly ran my hand across his chest, stroking him and running my fingers lightly down towards his waistband. He lightly grabbed my wrist before I could go any further. “Stop.”
“Why? I thought you wanted a female werewolf for a mate?”
I looked up to see him looking up at the ceiling, he ran his hand through his hair. “I do, but not—”
“But not me,” I whispered, trying to hold back the tears.
“It’s not that simple, Natasha, there are so many reasons why I can’t.”
“Like?”
He slowly sat up against the headboard, making me have to as well. “Like how young you are for a start.”
“I’m a grown woman, I can make my own choices and werewolves don’t care about age anymore than vampires do as long as both are consenting adults, so don’t try and use that on me.”
“Fine, there’s the big a.ss reason, you’re my alphas daughter, and he’s a scary son of a b.itch, I don’t really want to be strung up in his t.orture room anytime soon, just knowing you have a crush on me would probably give him reason enough to kill me.”
“He already knows I like you, and he even said he wouldn’t mind you as my mate, he likes you more than the others as a potential mate for me.”
I could feel his shock. “He actually said that?”
“Yes, even mum thinks you’d be good for me.”
“No f.ucking way did she say that.”
“Yes way.”
“I’d be a terrible mate for you.”
“Why?”
“Because I f***k everything in sight, I like s**x, I like hot k.inky s**x, I like things that are so dirty you wouldn’t even know what it is, I wouldn’t want to take your virginity, you deserve a nice guy who’s maybe even a virgin himself.”
“So you don’t want me because I’m too vanilla for you? You think I can’t be a bad girl in bed?”
“You’re too innocent for me.”
“And ugly.”
“What?”
“I’m not tall or slim or pretty.”
“Don’t talk like that about yourself, that’s not it at all.”
“We kissed as wolves,” I said.
“By accident.”
“Pfft, you kissed me back for a second there.”
I leaned over him and kissed his neck.
“Natasha, stop.”
I carried on kissing his neck, not knowing where the confidence came from. I kissed my way down to his collarbone and he made a soft noise in his throat before he murmured, “you should stop.”
I flicked my tongue over his n*****e and he moaned softly, I took that as my cue to reach up and kiss him on the lips. His hand slid to the waistband of the jeans I was still wearing, and he slid it down the back and tugged on the thongs I was wearing. He pulled back from me and asked, “since when do you wear thongs?”
“Since I borrowed Amber’s.”
He drew back and became cold. “You get some sleep in your bed.”
“You don’t like thongs?”
He coldly replied, “I don’t like that you’re so innocent that you don’t even own any, but you borrowed some because you wanted to, what? seduce me? You think you have to act and dress like one of the dirty f.ucking women I pick up? You think you have to degrade yourself to get my attention?”
“You would never notice me otherwise.”
He grew more angry. “You could have just f.ucking talked to me, and you should never lower yourself to please some guy, the right man wouldn’t want you to, he would accept you as you are.”
“You won’t accept me as I am though.”
“I don’t want to talk about it anymore, go to sleep.” He laid down and wouldn’t talk to me after that.
Silent tears fell down my cheeks and I climbed into the other bed and hid under the covers, trying to be quiet as I cried. I loved Kai so much, all I wanted was to be with him, minus the ‘sleeping around’ he was everything I wanted in a man, kind, caring, funny, very loyal to those he cared about, which being a werewolf was pretty normal, but still, I wanted Kai, I didn’t want anyone else and to top it all of he was absolutely gorgeous.
Maybe I was shallow and was hooked on his looks, would I be as interested if he wasn’t so drop-dead gorgeous? As werewolves, we didn’t get good looks like in the movies, nice bodies? Sure, muscles came with the werewolf gene for survival reasons, to keep strong, but that didn’t mean a werewolf couldn’t still eat so excessively that they gained weight, or that they couldn’t keep themselves skinny and as unmuscular as possible, but there would still be muscle of some kind that’s just how it worked.
Other than that we were just like any human, plain, average, and so on, dad and Kai were those rare kind of men that were naturally drop-dead gorgeous, you usually didn’t find them outside of a magazine.
The rest of the pack weren’t that attractive, Joey was ok I guess if you liked the bald big burly look, and Charlie was kind of good looking if you liked the boxer look or more accurately for him the bad boy look.
Charlie was built like a boxer, probably because he used to actually box at one point, he has a s.lit through his left eyebrow, not for fashion, but a more embarrassing reason for him, he’d been running in wolf form in the forest and hadn’t seen the tree branch sticking out, it slashed through where his eyebrow would be and almost took his eye out, you get hurt in wolf form it’s still there in human form.
He always told everyone it was from a skiing accident, but I knew the truth because he’d confessed when we were hanging out. He was rugged looking with dark green eyes and dark brown straight tousled hair that was shaved around the sides.
I wasn’t thinking straight as I cried, and I found myself texting Amber about what had happened. She replied saying she’d send Charlie to drop our stuff off, apparently I had to absolutely flirt with Charlie and make Kai jealous, pfft, I didn’t think that would work at all.
Charlie and I couldn’t be more different if we tried, I was so not his type of girl and I don’t think I could handle another embarrassing rejection even if it was just some light flirting.
