Mia arrives early enough that the center is still half-empty.
Lisa is already at her desk.
"Finally." She stands the moment Mia walks in, steering her into the chair with both hands on her shoulders. "Sit. Tell me everything."
Mia drops her bag, doesn't even take her jacket off, and tells her.
Lisa listens with increasing expression. By the end she's leaning back in her chair with the look of someone watching a very bad film they can't stop watching.
"So she planned the whole thing herself." A pause. "And then stood in the middle of it like it was going to work."
"Apparently."
"How does someone get that bold?" Lisa shakes her head slowly. "Either she's genuinely calculated or she has absolutely no sense of self-preservation. I can't tell which is worse."
