The music seems to pull back, and the table goes quiet. Mia looks at the card. Elias's foot, beneath the table, has extended until it's resting against hers—steady, unhurried, warm even through two layers of fabric. She is very aware of it. "Yesterday's game," she says quietly. "Mia," Lisa protests. "The card asked when my heart rate last spiked," Mia says, with the calm of someone who has identified a technicality and intends to use it. "Watching a close game qualifies.
