Everything moved too fast after I signed the papers. One day I was the girl who fainted at work, and the next, I was the woman the tabloids called the lucky bride. Lucky. That word almost made me laugh. The wedding was arranged in less than forty-eight hours. Private, the lawyer said. Discreet, Leon said. Silent, I said, because no one asked what I wanted anyway.
