The next day, you walk down the halls of school, people whispering things, and you head to your locker. As you arrive at your locker, Tara comes barrelling towards you.
"Have you heard the rumours?" Tara asked.
"No, what rumours?" You asked, nervous.
"Rumours about you, some people are saying you hooked up with Zack and others Nate." Tara explained.
"Both of which are complete crap." You respond.
"I know, but maybe you should lay low for today." Tara smiled at you.
You nod, and you both begin to walk down the hallway, Nate, Zack, and Sam all come barrelling around the corner.
"I swear I never said anything!" Nate remarks, sadly.
"Someone did, and I'll find out who." You replied.
"You don't actually believe him, do you?" Sam asked, his tone filled with rage.
"I was seen with Zack and Nate. It could have been anyone, so until proven guilty, I'll believe him." You smiled.
"Fine." Sam replied huffily.
"I think I'm gonna skip lunch, though." You respond.
"You don't need to." Sam replied, shocked.
"Hmmm, can we please go? Everyone is staring at us." You asked quietly.
You head to gym class. everyone is staring at you.
"I'll be so happy when it's lunch." You mutter to yourself.
"Why do you have a lunch date with Zack or Nate?" Madison smirks.
"It's none of your business, but me and I have a lunch date." You smile, putting Madison in her place.
"What! but Zack is so hot. Can I go for him?" She looks at you shocked.
"Sure, whatever." You laughed.
Gym class is over you shower and head to Lunch, you walk into the cafeteria, you chose not to run from the rumours, Nate approaches you.
"I heard we have a lunch date." Nate chuckled.
"News travels fast." You look at Nate shocked.
"What do you mean?" Nate asked.
"I told Madison in gym class that we had a date because Madison was being her usual bitchy self. She's obviously text a bunch of people and told them." You explained.
"So you need a fake boyfriend?" Nate is almost thrilled to hear this.
"Sort of." You smiled.
"Who has a boyfriend?" Sam asked angrily as he joined you both.
"No one." You snapped quickly.
"Are you and Nate dating?" Sam asked. His voice almost demanded an answer.
"Yup." Nate remarked as though he was proud of the fact you two were fake dating.
"No way! Tara didn't tell me." Sam growled.
"Why would she?" You asked dumbfounded.
"Because I asked her to keep tabs on you." Sam replied quickly.
"You as my best friend to backstab me!" You're growing increasingly angry.
out of nowhere Tara appears.
"I didn't agree to it, obviously." She smiled.
"How long have you been standing there?" You asked, a little taken aback by your best friends random appearance.
"A while, but I'd never betray your trust you know that right?" Tara smiled.
"I Know." You throw a smile back at her.
"Sisters before Misters." She let out a soft laugh.
"Thanks T." You hug her.
"Sam I think we should talk." Tara turns to Sam and gestures away from the group.
You turn and face Nate, you smile up at him.
"Thanks for dealing with Sam." You smile sweetly at him.
"No problem, Sam doesn't scare me." Nate grins.
"I know, maybe we could keep this fake relationship a secret." You give Nate a little smile.
"But then it won't be convincing and we just sort of told Sam about us." Nate looks at you sadly.
"I just need a fake date for one day, nothing else." You remind Nate.
"Fine, One date, but you owe me." Nate seemed sad about it being only one date.
Before you know it, lunch is over so is school, you head to Sam's spot. You get comfortable in front of the cave and lay down, your head resting against the rock blocking the entrance tot he cave slightly. 'I'll just lay here a moment.' You shut your eyes, after awhile you drift off to sleep. You're waken up awhile later by some crunching beside you. You wake up and rub your eyes, you spot a familiar figure, his jacket and brown hair familiar, 'Nate'. He brought you inside the cave and had sorted a fire out to keep you warm, he hadn't noticed you had woken up.
"What are you doing here?" You asked Nate.
"I text you a bunch and called and got no response, I noticed you weren't in your room and decided to check all your usual hang out spots." He gives you a sweet smile.
"How did you know my usual hang out spots, apart from this cave?" You asked curious as to know how he got this information.
"I have my ways." He laughs cheekily. "Anyway, I came here, you were fast asleep, it was cold and late, I carried you in here and built a fire for you." He continued.
"Why would you do that?" You asked again.
"Because tonight's a full moon, it was either leave you out there to turn or bring you in here and be with you to make sure you're safe." Nate looked a little shy.
"Oh, hum, thanks." You whispered.
"Don't mention it, do you want to camp out here or go home?" Nate asked, he was fully prepared to camp out with you.
"I'd like to stay here with you." You smile, moving closer to him.
"Are you warm enough, do you feel okay?" He asks worried.
"Yes, thankyou." You smile at him again.
There's a beat of silence between you both for a moment, Nate lets out a small sigh and looks to you.
"Why don't you want to go home?" He asked.
"Well I'm not exactly on the best terms with Sam." You explained.
Nate gives you a knowing nod, not speaking again for a little while, you sigh this time, you turn to face Nate cross legged you meet his gaze.
"I wanted to talk to you about my dad." You blurted.
"Oh." Nate looks worried.
"I want to talk, not to blame you or argue or get mad, I want to know your side." You smile reassuringly.
"I panicked, I saw him there, injured, I tried to save him, I couldn't then Sam flew at me, I promise I never wanted you to be sad." Nate chokes up a little bit.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that." You hold his gaze for a moment.
Without so much of a reply Nate holds out his arms to make peace, you accept, his arms feel safe, warm and just like they used to when you hugged each other as kids. 'You can't do this...' You think to yourself, you pull away quickly and hastily.
"What's wrong?" Nate asked concerned.
"We can't get close, Sam would freak and we are supposed to hate each other." You reply.
"That adds to the fun, forbidden love, sneaking around and he knows anyway, wether he approves or not." Nate smirked.
"Okay then what about prom?" You burst out without a thought.
"I could take you." Nate smirks at you flirtatiously.
"I'll refer to the previous comment, we are supposed to be fake dating, I don't want either of us to get attached." You remarked.
"Fine, I'll find someone else to go with. But you have to reject me Infront of everyone." Nate laughed.
"Fine." You also laughed.
The next morning the school has been taken over by young adults buzzing about prom, banners appeared overnight with the words PROM! In huge bright letters, confetti everywhere. You're walking down the hall with Tara.
"Why is everyone being so weird, they are all acting like they are buzzing off of coffee or something?" You laugh.
"Because it's prom week!" Tara replied almost giddy.
"Ugh!" You sigh.
"How can you not be excited?" Tara looks at you in utter shock.
"Because I'm the weird girl who doesn't have a date plus no one will ask me and I hate dances." You shudder at the thought.
"Come on, it will be fun." Tara replied optimistically.
"I'm more interested in what happened with you and Sam yesterday, when you went to talk." You try to dig for information.
"I just told him to back off you a little, he's being too overprotective." She smiles.
"Thanks he's a lot to deal with sometimes." You smile at her.
You watch one of the science nerds head to Taylor to ask her to the dance.
"EWW!" She screeches. You and Tara burst out laughing.
"Taylors face!" You imitate Taylor.
You arrive at your locker, as you open it you see an envelope.
"Did someone get a promposal?" Tara giggles.
"I'm not opening it." You whisper.
"Why not?" Tara asks.
"Because I don't want to go, meaning I have to tell someone no, which is daunting." You explain.
"I'll support you no matter what you decide." Tara smiles at you, easing your worries a little bit.
"Thanks." You shove the note in your bag 'out of sight out of mind' you mutter to yourself. That's when later arrived, you're eating lunch with Tara and Sam.
"Olivia got a promposal!" Tara blurts to Sam.
"Tara!" You squeak.
"Sorry I'm just excited for you." She bounces in her seat.
"Whose it from?" Sam asks, nodding at the envelope.
"I don't know, I didn't open it." You remark.
"Why not?" To your surprise Sam seemed interested.
"I just didn't feel like it." The pair look at you skeptically, Zack joins you a few minutes later.
"Hey losers and Olivia." Zack chuckles, seating himself at your table.
"How's the prom date quest going?" You ask curiously, Zack had been asking around for most of the morning.
"A little embarrassing actually, the girl I want to ask is dating someone so now I have to go back to square one, I also wish I hadn't planned a promposal for her." Zack explains a little sad about it.
"Who was it?" You ask, shocked.
"You wouldn't know her, she goes somewhere else." Zack seemed shifty, he shuffled nervously in his seat.
You spot Nate glancing over at you, your phone buzzes.
(Text conversation. You are italics, Nate is bold.)
'Imagine if he found out we were fake dating.'
'it was one date.'
'The best date ;)'
'don't say anything.'
'okay.'
Nate chuckles to himself and walks off, you tuck your phone back into your pocket, you still can't seem to stop thinking about who Zacks prom date was going to be.
"You good Liv? You seem zoned out" Tara grabs your attention.
"Oh, yeah, fine." You jump a little.
"Zack, if you're needing a date you could always ask Olivia." Tara smiles.
You glare over at Tara, Zack turns to look at you, he seems nervous.
"Would you want to?" He asks.
"Sorry someone already asked me, I'll let you know." You let him down gently.
It wasn't a total lie, someone had asked you, you just didn't know who because you refuse to open the note. Zack gives you a deflated sigh, you quickly jump up from your seat.
"I gotta go do something, I'll be right back." You dash off.
You head for an empty hallway, you stop and fling your backpack off your shoulder, you root around for the note, pulling it out of your bag you tear it open. IT reads;
'Prom? N x'
You shake your head and give a little laugh, you're about to text Nate until he appears in front of you, making you jump.
"How did you do that?" You gasp.
"I'm just that good." Nate laughs.
"Still have the ego, what do you want me to say about the promposal?" You tease him.
"Yes?" He replies shyly.
You think for a moment, "Sam would flip." You reply.
"Don't do what Sam wants do what you want." Nate seems to get a little angry.
"I can't you have to understand if you want to be together, even if it's pretend I have to keep him happy." You sigh sadly.
"Fine! I'll ask someone else then" Nate disappears, he seems angry.
You head back to the cafeteria, hoping Zack will still be there. Thankfully he is.
"ZACK!" You yell.
"Yeah?" He looks up hopeful.
"I'll go to prom with you." You smile at him, he doesn't reply he just wraps you in a hug.
You head for your usual classes, you're falling behind and need to study but all this werewolf stuff has just taken over your life.
"Do you want to go grab food?" Tara asks.
"Sorry I gotta study, I'm so far behind." You give her an apologetic look and head off to the library to study, after a couple of hours you head home, you get home exhausted after today, you crash onto your bed.
