POV: Seraphina Vale
The Blood Moon rose high, painted like a fresh wound in the sky. The stars seemed to fade in its presence, retreating behind red mist and silence. Seraphina stood on the cliffs of Blackridge, the Codex pulsing in her satchel, as though responding to the moon’s sinister call.
Kael stood beside her, his jaw clenched, muscles tense beneath his armor. Ryker had gone ahead to scout the ruins of the Elder Circle—a place where magic was said to bend, break, and bleed.
Tonight, everything felt on the edge.
And the wind… whispered her name.
Seraphina…
She shivered, though fire lived in her bones.
Kael turned to her. “The Codex is waking up, isn’t it?”
She nodded. “And it’s hungry.”
POV: Ryker Vale
He reached the edge of the Elder Circle and stopped cold. The stone pillars—each representing a lost Alpha bloodline—were crumbling. In the center, a mirror stood. Not glass. Not metal.
Memory.
It rippled like water but reflected what should not be seen.
He saw himself… but older. Eyes blackened. Hands soaked in blood.
And Seraphina, chained, weeping.
He staggered back. “What the hell is this?”
The mirror whispered, The path if you break.
If. Not when.
He snarled and hurled a blade at it. It passed right through.
The vision remained.
POV: Kael Draven
Back on the cliff, Kael felt it before he saw it.
The moon pulsed.
And the sky cracked.
Not metaphorically—literally.
A spiderweb fracture split across the heavens. Magic shivered. The ground trembled.
“The Shatter Moon,” Kael breathed. “It’s not a prophecy. It’s a trigger.”
Seraphina gasped. The Codex leapt from her satchel, floating in the air, opening on its own.
The pages turned violently, then stopped.
One line glowed red:
When moonlight breaks, so shall the bond.
And in the ruin of trust, the gate shall bleed.
He grabbed Seraphina’s hand. “Don’t let go.”
“I won’t,” she promised.
But the moment the moon shattered fully—
Something inside her did, too.
POV: Abyssbound – Elira
Elira stood beneath the veil, arms raised. The moon’s power soaked into her veins like wine.
“She’s breaking,” she whispered, giddy. “I can feel it.”
And far away, Seraphina screamed—clutching her chest, falling to her knees.
The bond between her and Kael flared. Then It cracked.
POV: Kael Draven
Her scream shattered him.
Kael fell to his knees beside Seraphina, grabbing her shoulders as her entire body convulsed. Magic—wild, red, and seething—burst from her like fire laced with lightning. Her eyes had changed. Not glowing… burning.
“Seraphina!” he shouted. “Stay with me!”
But she didn’t answer.
The bond—their bond—was unraveling.
He felt it like a noose pulling at his soul, tearing thread by thread. The pain was unimaginable. A hollowing.
And then…
She stopped breathing.
POV: Seraphina Vale
Darkness.
Not silence. There were voices.
A thousand of them. Whispers and screams. Laughter like knives.
She stood in a realm of shadows. And before her, rising from the black soil, stood a woman wrapped in flame and bone.
“Elira,” Seraphina said coldly.
The woman smiled. “No, child. You. I am what you will become.”
“You’re lying.”
The doppelgänger stepped closer. “You’ve felt it. The hunger. The power. You think the Codex chose you for peace? It chose you for ruin.”
“I’d rather die than become you.”
The reflection tilted her head. “And that… can be arranged.”
POV: Ryker Vale
He felt the rupture from miles away.
Magic cracked through the air like lightning. He shifted and ran faster than he ever had. She was dying.
He didn’t care about fate. Or prophecy. Or what was written in blood.
He cared about his sister.
And he wouldn’t lose her.
POV: Kael Draven
He held her limp body in his arms, heart breaking as her pulse faded.
The Codex hovered above them, pages turning rapidly.
He had no plan. No bargain to offer.
So he offered himself.
He slammed his palm to the earth, magic surging, and screamed into the Codex:
“Take me instead!”
The Codex paused.
Then glowed.
And for the briefest second—she breathed again.
⸻
POV: Abyssbound – Elira
From her fortress beneath the world, Elira snarled.
“No. Not yet. Not by his hand.”
She summoned the gate.
“Bind them both. Make the cost unbearable.”
The Abyss opened.
And the price for love… was rewritten.
