Though theirs was a business marriage, Mark had never liked Meredith, yet he never imagined hearing the word "divorce" from her.
Mark picked up the divorce agreement, scanning it repeatedly with undisguised disbelief.
"Are you out of your mind? Is this your way of threatening me?"
Meredith kept her cool.
"Don't you love Joanna? Is it really so hard to divorce me?"
As Meredith confronted Mark about the divorce, outside the Perry estate, Charles, having followed her, spotted her car in the courtyard.
His expression darkened instantly, eyes turning stormy.
Without a word, Charles spun his car around and left.
Inside, Mark tore the agreement to shreds as if she'd dared to defy him.
"Listen, Meredith. No matter how much you resent Joanna or try to provoke me, there are limits!"
