Rhys had left three days ago. No call or text either. He was a ghost. The whispers at school had died over the weekend and no one paid me much mind besides the demons. I felt their eyes on me as I moved through the halls but ignored them. Without Rhys, school felt empty like it never had before. I had tried calling him at lunch but even that had failed to make him reappear. I wondered where he could be. I tried to stop worrying about him so much but it was hard. During the last period, I was called to the office. With a sigh, I walked to the front of the school. As I neared, I saw the nurse leaving and she smiled at me, which felt odd. She leaned down and whispered something low to me. Suddenly the world felt fuzzy. I couldn't seem to focus on anything like I had opened my eyes underwater
