6. My Woman

UNKNOWN’S POV: I sat across the fireplace as I tried to ponder over the fact that she was not mine to claim. I was too late to be here. The voices around became murmurs and as I tried to collect myself, I scattered around.  “Sir, it’s almost sunset. When will you have your dinner?” A voice jolted me back to the comfy couch on which I sat and the fire blazing in front, reminding me of the one who had such fire in her. I gazed left to find Robert bowing before as usual. As many times as I would say to him to not do that but he would always. Ethics and morals were something we lived our life by from the land from where we belonged. “Not needed, Robert. I would like to go for a stroll around and you should have some tea,” I smiled as I got up and went outside before anyone could follow me through. As my feet took me towards the forest, I gazed up to the sun now fading up. This was the most beautiful place I have ever been to. The memories were stranded across every inch, to every pebble, and to every bark of the tree in the jungle. As I made my way through the forest, my heart began to become restless. There was a pull that was taking me somewhere or maybe to someone. I know there was a river just a few kilometers away from here. I have been here all my childhood. As I grazed through the bushes and wet clay, I heard someone. I heard a voice as melodious as it could be and my steps faltered at the serenity that voice held. Quickly making my way through the forest, I almost ran to the voice and as the thick trees faded, the view became clear. There was this river outside and across that, there was a nymph. Yeah, that. My feet clawed themself at the edge of the forest as I danced in ecstasy on the sweetness of her voice. The beauty was unique and exceptionally rare, like a diamond hidden deep in the depths of a coal mine, raw and unpolished. Like a mud-stained face of a playful kid, with beauty hidden beneath the grains of clay on their face. I knew he found the one for my lifetime. As long as it was. From a distance, behind the cover of lush green trees, I could see the brunette with elongated strands of brown hair with flakes of gold flaunting with the chilly west winds, seated across the shore of River Bystraya. I could only see her back but the voice of the giggles as the salty water touched her feet was echoing in the vacant riverbed, like a melody of a beautiful song. It made it sure she was as beautiful as the voice. My feet got hitched between the beds of Amanita Muscaria and despite the fresh cool breeze, he inhaled I still felt like I couldn’t take the next breath before her face was visible to her.  I slowly stepped towards her like a hunter towards a beautiful Red-tailed deer, the most beautiful of the one, the one you don’t startle, the one you wait until you are an inch away and then with a swift motion you pounce on it. In the same way, he was a hunter and she was like a little deer, ignorant of the surroundings, fulfilling life to the brim of her capacity. As I stepped closer to her, his fingers trembled as they moved towards the hollow surface between her shoulder and neck, hidden beneath the flimsy cover of a brown-colored local maxi. Wasn’t she cold? Maybe his warmness could absorb her coldness. As his cold fingers placed on her shoulder, the giggle echoing in the winds of the west got startled and they halted.  She turned around and the winds stopped bothering me, everything just halted.  The color of those eyes had the color one of the most beautiful of edged glass and crushed ice. It was the color of water droplets being melted off an iceberg, opaque and transparent.  The skin was a shade of white smoke and floral white with the crease of the heart-shaped curved pink full lips adding a heavenly addition to her perfection. Her skin was rough with the wild slaps of hurling winds, pink and rosy, and the nose dainty also a shade of red on its tip. Those little freckles spread across her cheeks like little droplets of dust made him smile. I knew for once in his life he got happiness in those hollows of innocence. The expressions of those eyes changed and the giggle in the eyes was transformed to fear and confusion, making me a little guilty of bursting her little bubble. “Who are you?” I asked as I crouched down to her level. I knew those eyes but just couldn't put a finger on whether they belong to the same person I thought they belonged to. “Ashk,” Just a little gesture from her side as she picked the pitcher and was about to cross me over when I grabbed her hand from behind as I asked, “What does that mean?”  “Love,” An answer in a foreign accent but I didn’t mind as I let her go for the time being. But not for too long I promise. “I promise to love you like your name. I promise as long as we both live we will cherish the meaning of your name,” I murmured to myself as I saw her vanish in the tall green trees like a little dear.  A predator let his prey go just because it melted his heart. I knew she was not mine but the possessiveness to hold her tight was bubbling through my core. She was much more beautiful. The year has changed her into a beautiful woman. My woman. Whatever it takes, it was decided. I know once she knows who I was, she would come back to me or maybe not? But at least I have to try to take what’s mine. As I gazed back I saw her vanish into the forest and I knew where she would go and it brought a  grin to my face. She ran from me and then again she would come to me.  I hope you guys like it.
