“Do you know where he is taking you?” Mia asked as she tried to calm her baby. He came here a few weeks after Mia arrived and now she was trying to jumble her work life with her baby.
“I don't know. Maybe I should say no. I shouldn’t go, right?” I asked as I again put off my shoes and sat down on the sofa. She came closer as she put her hand on mine while her baby was messing with her hair.
“Ashk, for how long? Four years have passed and you have still refused to go on with your life. For how long are you going to be alone? He is gone. Accept it and move on. This is for the best,” Her sympathy was like nails being pierced into my skin. People come and go but the promises remain there.
“Mia, I can’t. What if he begins to expect something from me? What am I going to do then?
