Troubled

“How can this be possible?” I pace the floors of my room. “No, this can't happen.” I sit on the bed, my mind thinking back to the words I heard from the oldest of the pack. “I can't allow this. There's no way I'll allow someone to rule over the pack I suffered for. I won't allow someone like him rule over me. This is something unheard of. ” I continue on with the pacing. A knock sounds on my door. “ Who's that?” I growl at whoever the stupid person knocking on the door might be. “It's me, Alpha.” My beta replies. “Come in.” I call out to him, and Teny came in. Compared to me, Teny is much more muscular. Most times, he's referred to as the Alpha by the others. “What do you want?” I snap at him. “It's okay Dess.” He walked towards me. “I know you're angry and pissed off right now, but you have to do things hastily.” “ Rational manner?” I frown at him. “ Tell me, how can you say such a thing in such context?” “ Calm down, Dess.” He placed a hand on my shoulder. “ You're not alone in this. Whatever happens, Know I'm right behind you. Whatever decision you take, now I'm always behind you.” “ I don't really know what to do.” I look up at him. Teny have being my best friend since our younger days. He's one of the few people I can be proud to say got my back. Despite everything that happened, he has being with me. “Don't worry about that. You're the Alpha Dess, whatsoever your decision might be, your pack will support you. You've done so much for this pack, I don't think any of us can deny that.” “ Do you think they might support me, should I wage war against the fiery pack?” The fiery pack is one that can never be played with. Their Alpha is a ruthless Werewolf who have more enemies than friends, enemies who don't dare defile the great Alpha. “They will. You need to have a little faith in your pack Dess, they'll support you with whatever decision you want.” “But the elders….” “Forget about the elders. They're old men who're supposed to have met their ancestors by now. Listen to me Dess, you don't have to think deeply about things. Know that whatever your decision might be, your people will support you. Your sacrifice to us all these years can never be overlooked.” His words made me feel more confident about things. It makes me feel supported compared to how I felt when I came back from the meeting with the elders. A meeting that started well, but ended badly. “You know, I don't know why the Alpha of the fiery pack all of a sudden want our pack. Nothing adds anymore.” “No one knows the reason he wants to have this pack. He's a sadistic werewolf that does things at a whim. I don't think he has any tangible reason for doing so. It might probably be based on the fact he's bored with the larger pack, and want the smaller one like ours.” “But why?” All these years of being the Alpha, I've tried my best not to get in any terms with any of the higher up Alphas as I know I might not be able to defend my people. The Alpha of the fiery pack is the one I avoid the most. I've not seen him, but I've heard his fame. He's the one I've done everything in my powers not to piss off, but it turns out he's not one that takes the trouble that's sent to him. He looks for trouble on his own. “No one knows the reason.” Teny place his hand on my shoulder. “Don't think too deeply about stuffs like that. Who knows, there might be a change of heart in his part. He might decide he no longer wants to have such a small pack.” “ You think so?” “ I do. Don't worry much Dess, things will turn out the way fate destined it to. Don't beat yourself up with thoughts about that.” “ How can I not do so when my pack is at stake?” The future of my pack lies in my hand, should I do anything that doesn't rhyme well with things, it might jeopardize the safety of the pack. “ Don't worry, we'll be by your side supporting any decision you decide on. Should you want us to wage war against the fiery pack, we the silver moon pack will fight behind you. You're our Alpha. Wherever you stand, that's where we'll be” “ Do you think the others are thinking like you are? The words of the elders proves that they don't want a fight. They want me to give up the pack for safety of the people. “ “Those are the elders, they're not the people. You shouldn't conclude without knowing the minds of others. I as your Beta is ready to support you all the way. Should no one wish to stand by you, don't freight, I will stand by you regardless of what.” “ Thank you, Ten. You've being more than a friend to me. I really can't tell what I would have done without you.” “ Let's see.” He placed his hand under his jaw as if in deep contemplation. “Right, now you might be in some kind of ditch or something like that.” “Silly!” I smile at him. “ Only to make you happy.” He lightly touched my hair. “ Am glad to see you're back to your smiling self. Don't worry Dess, tomorrow might bring more good than bad, you have to be a little optimistic.” “ And that I am.” I smile brightly. “ I'll leave you to get some rest. I'll be here first thing in the morning to take you to the meeting with the people.” He stands from the bed. “ Thanks Ten, have a good undisturbed night.” I smile. “ Good night, Dess, we'll see tomorrow.” Waving at me, he leaves the room.
