Chapter 18

Mary-Katheryn

After coming back to the clan house, I immediately go to the garden to look for Siphesihle to ask her what the words I heard meant. "Sorry Alpha Jacob, I have to go."

I rush my pace to the garden, when I there and look around I see Siphesihle sitting down near the white and red flowers tending to them. As I get closer, I hear her singing a song to the flowers. The melody is so sweet and soft, and her voice is just so melodic and amazing, it makes a person just stop what they are doing and listen to her sing.

After she finished her song she got up and bowed to the flowers then turned around and saw me. "You know creeping up on someone in the garden is very dangerous." She smiles and comes to me as she says that.

I laugh as I join her and we make our way to the clan house. "What is so dangerous about a garden, they are just beautiful flowers?"

She stopped walking and looked at me with a serious face. "Beautiful things can be deadly too." she says, then que my awkward smile. Her mouth twitched and we both started laughing.

"That was awesome." I said then looked away from her and saw Beta Nhlakanipho coming towards us with a big smile on his face.

"Heard you read one of our ancient Royal books." he said with the biggest smile on his face. That killed the mood a little for me. The book I read did not look that old. it was still in good condition and I didn't get to read it as Alpha Jacob took it from me.

And if the book was so important why keep it in a place where anyone can walk in and read it, if it is that valuable. It is a fictional story after all. "Yeah, then Alpha Jacob took it before I could move on to the 2nd chapter. The first chapter was an interesting enough read that I would love to finish it." I said then noticed that both Siphesihle and Beta Nhlakanipho were quiet and not saying anything.

Siphesihle was looking at me with a shocked face and Beta Nhlakanipho had an even bigger smile on his face , i was afraid his face might split i two with how big his smile was.

What's wrong with the people in this clan. Just reading a book is getting so many different types of reactions that are just so weird. Reading a book is nothing note worthy. I've been reading them my whole life and never got this, mostly my stepfather would get angry and say I'm wasting my time and his money by buying the books, so this book was not even that amazing.

"I knew there was something special about you." Beta Nhlakanipho says to me before he turns to Siphesihle. "All omega's are being asked to come to the meeting room in 15 mins, and for now that includes you Mary-khatherin." he says then walks back to the clan house.

I put my arm through Siphesihle's arm to get her to start walking again because she still looks stuck to the ground looking at me. "Meeting in 15 mins Siphe, let's get a move on." That seems to wake her up and we begin to make our way to the meeting room.

We get there to see most of the omegas were already there. As we enter some of them look at us and turn back to what they were doing with a face as if they smelled something foul when we walked in. I feel Siphesihle pat my hand as we see and empty wall and lean against it to wait for the meeting to begin. "What do you think the meeting is about?" I hear a whisper in the room.

"Its probably about the dead weight we are now always covering for or cleaning up after." Giggling starts in a hushed tone as my heart picks up its pace and I look around, trying to see who said that.

"I know right. She cant even boil water to save her life." Now the whole room of Omegas are trying not to laugh louder behind their hands and some are failing miserably.

"Ignore them. You are trying and that's what matters." Siphesihle says trying to comfort me and brushing my hand in a calming gesture.

I feel so much shame at this point, I wish a big hole would just appear under me and swallow me, and at not knowing how to help take care of the clan, let alone me.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen. we have a few things to discuss." Ms Nomonde says as she walks into the room and everyone focuses on her. "We will be having a guests in a few days to come, to look at our barriers to see if it is still strong enough to protect us from our enemies." As she says that everyone looks at me. That hole should come up any second now. "The house will have to be cleaned and check if the guests rooms are clean and usable so our guests can feel at home too, while staying with us. Any questions?" She says looking around the room. "Oh yes, the specific assignments will be given out by Zenzi." After she said that the raised hands came down and my heart filled with dread. "Katherin, come with me please." Ms Nomonde said that as she walked away from the room. I put my head down and followed her to the muffled giggles of some of the other Omegas. "I would like for you to keep yourself available when the guests arrive." Ms Nomonde says as she stops out of earshot of the room we came from.

"Okay ma'am. Does that mean I don't have to help the other Omegas." I ask her. Please say yes, that would keep me away from the bad jobs I am sure Zenzi will be saving just for me.

"No no no no no... it just means I may call you at some point for help with the guests." She said. Ouch she hurt me with those no's, one would have worked just fine.

"Its okay Ms Nomonde, I will do as you say."

"Thanx honey." She then started waking away. "Oh I almost forgot. You can go get that book you were reading back from Jacob." She said before walking away again.

Wow at least she said something good to me. I can continue to read about those mysterious royals. it is a fascinating book to read.

The clan house has been a flurry of movement for the past 3 days. Everyone has been fixing/cleaning things up for the guests that are coming here today. The guests are shrouded in mystery, no-one knows who is coming, only that they are here to fix the magical barrier and we have to make everything more glamorous before their arrival.

I've been working closely with Siphesihle to avoid more mishaps and the other Omegas. They still haven't warmed up to me yet.

We are currently arranging the tables and chairs in the dining hall. Dusting up the chandeliers and making sure that they are steady, and putting up the house banners. The banners were something amazing to look at.

The banners were a shiny type of bottle green with a crescent moon printed in white on them. and if you looked at the banners from another angle the crescent moon would look like a hunting bow with and arrow ready to fire at a target, which made the whole thing so magical for me.

Siphesihle and I were putting decorative cloths on the dining table when we heard voices and footsteps coming this way to the dining hall. We both looked at each other and started to hurry up with setting up the tables. Once we were done we hurried out of the room as Ms Nomonde, Alpha Jacob and 2 other people (a younger man and an older woman) walked into the dining hall.

As we made our way out, my eyes caught with those of the woman being lead inside. Her eyes were blue, not the usual blue eyes though. These were a light kind of blue with flecks of yellow and white making them look like a cloudy day or the midnight stary sky with a blacked out moon as the pupil. Her eyes captured your own, making you stare at them and spill all your secrets.

Siphesihle pulled me along with her and we made it out with no incident and the staring was cut off. I didn't even look at her whole face just got stuck on the hauntingly starry blue eyes.

The preparations for the evening where done and now the party had started, and since the food was a buffet style, the were no servers, you got your own food, which means the Omegas and me can join the party and enjoy it.

Cling, cling, cling, cling, cling.

We looked to the main table in front as Alpha Jacob was the one call for attention. "Everyone, thank you all for your hard work in putting everything together to make this meal a success. This is Olivia and Oliver Campbell, they are the Magicians who will help us with our barrier problem. Let us all welcome our honoured guests to our home."

Everyone got up, put one hand on another person's shoulder and moved around until they made a circle, then with Alpha Jacob at the front they all bowed to the new comers and said "Ni Wamukelekile." then got up and Alpha Jacob touched the guests shoulders, and the 2 glowed a bit before they also bowed and said "Thank you for the warm welcome." In unison as they both sat down and everyone else went back to their sits.

After that the main table went and got their food then the rest stood to get their food, and I followed when Siphesihle stood to get food, but as I turned to go back to my seat. I collided with someone and we both went down, my food as well. Damn. Now I'll have to clean that up, and add more fuel for the other Omegas to keep hating me. I tried to get up to start cleaning but my hand was held down. I turned to see what was holding my hand down and saw the woman introduced as Olivia holding it.

She had beautiful hands, they looked fresh and smooth, like she's never known a day's work (Like mine used to be.) with a beautiful pink manicure. Her grip on my hand starred to get tighter and then discomfort reminded me who held my hand. Stunned that I bumped into to her I went to apologies then saw that her eyes were turning white. I watched in fascination as the white vail started from the outer layer of her eyes, moving slowly as if she wanted me to see that her eyes were being closed over by this white vail. As the white took over my eyes connected with hers and left me staring at white orbs.

It then registered to me that the whole dining hall had gone quiet. I broke my stare and looked around the hall to see that everyone else was looking at us. OMG what have i done? Did i just ruin things for the clan with these two, then I looked at the younger man to judge his reaction. But he wasn't even looking at us, his focus was on Alpha Jacob and he as well had the same white eyes as the woman holding me down has. Then they both spoke at the same time. The voice that came out was exactly the same from both mouths.
