Chapter 22

Mary-Katheryn

"We seem to have more visitors Alpha and they would like to talk to you," Immediately after the warrior said that Alpha Jacob looked at me as if the visitors were my fault. Well maybe I was the first to come here uninvited.

"Nhla, lets go see who is at our door this time." Alpha Jacob went out the door and Beta Nhlakanipho soon followed him, but as he left he gestured with his hand for me to follow them as well. I didn't want to follow Alpha Jacob anywhere, but they do say curiosity killed the cat not the wolf, so maybe I'm good on that front. I think.

I follow closely behind Beta Nhlakanipho and am there to see Alpha Jacob pause in wonder then keep walking. Now that pause makes me walk faster to see what would give pause to this powerful Alpha. I know he is more powerful that my stepfather that's why I want to be extra sure that I can trust him to protect me and Jason from them and not hand us over to my stepfather and Dominic.

As I quicken my step the scene I see outside makes me understand why he may have paused. There is a group of men outside who give off such a strong aura, and the picture they make standing together in formation just screams out authority and command. Yeah, if someone came to your pack/clan with men like these, they will give you pause.

I mean the muscles alone gives your heart a few missed beats, then you go to their faces, and you have to ask the goddess a very important question. Why? Why would she do that to women? Why would she create such paragons of beauty, put them together and make us women try to choose between them. it's like trying to choose if you want chocolate, strawberry or vanilla for the rest of your life, and you know not just one flavour can do it for the rest of your life.

"Gentlemen. How did you get in here?" This Alpha is started to sound like a broken record with his barrier thing.

"Evening Alpha." That voices. Makes me imagine melted chocolate syrup on a strawberry. "We were sent here by the Royal Guard General Sifiso Mthembu to request the Ancient book of Royal powers and to collect this generations protector to return with us."  That stopped my daydream an made me pay more attention to what they were saying.

"And what are you going to do with the sacred book and the protector. The Royal family was murdered 15 years ago." I gasped and was looking at the men now with a critical eye as Alpha Jacob said that.

"The protector is to be trained at our compound." The speaker said.

"Gentlemen, how about you come inside, take a load off and freshen up then you can finish this conversation in the Alpha's office." Ms Nomonde said coming from the back and giving Alpha Jacob a quick reproofing look before ushering the speaker through the door.

"Thank you ma'am." As the men filled in I saw a familiar face among them and screamed while running to him.

I started crying before throwing myself into his arms. As I clung to him like a spidermonkey, he held me tight and moved around in circles checking for danger I guess and I also heard everyone else asking if we were under attack, and for everyone to be alert of the danger. Then he spoke. "Miss, you okay?" At his words I cried harder.

"Is she your mate or something." Someone asked, then he sniffed my hair and held me tighter still.

"MK... Is that you?" He whispers in my ear and I keep crying but nod my head to answer his question. "Whoa" The hug gets tighter and I feel his head lean down to settle on my shoulder too.

"What going on man? You never told us you found your mate. And she's from the Royal pack. Wow man, that's cool." The same person from before speaks again.

"She's not my mate you i***t. She's my sister." My brother picks up his head to address the speaker. "Hey Mk you ok honey?" My brother says while trying to create space so he can look at me, but I just hold on tighter. I'm not crying anymore but I cant let go. I've missed him so much and I feel like if I let go of him, he may disappear on me again.

"Since there's no danger, just a sister who missed her brother. Shall we continue gentlemen. We can leave these two to catch up. Nokwazi! Will show Katheryn's brother to his room and the Alpha's office once he detangles himself from his sister." Ms Nomonde says to the others and continues to usher them in.

My brother chuckled at that and said, "You gonna let me go or are we walking together like this?" I held him tighter as my answer. "Okay then." He started walking to catch up with the others. This reminded me of home. How me and Mary-Rose would do just this to our brother when we were little. Just hug him for as long as we could, one on his back and one on his front, and he would do most of his chores with both of us on him. He never minded the extra weight, said we were making him stronger without lifting weights.

"Well that's new." Same guy as before. Maybe he's my brother's friend.

"Shut it Rapha, she's emotional." My brother said talking to his friend. He then stopped and tapped my back. "I need to enter my room to get cleaned up MK." I tightened my hold. "I promise I'm not going anywhere. Just to put my bag away and maybe a shower." I released him at that.

"You promise not to leave me this time." I said

"Yeah, just a shower and I'm back." I let go of him at that, then stepped back so he could enter his room. Once he was inside I looked around and saw that the hall was empty and went to sit down on the wall facing his door.

The door opens and I pick my head up in excitement to see one of the adonis from earlier standing in front of her. That word made her cringe now. Her brother was one of the men she was daydreaming about. eeuw. I need to wash my brain. "What up sis." Aaaand he just made it worse.

"Hi." I raised my hand in greeting.

"You waiting for Jean-Blaze?" He asked as someone else came out of the same door.

"Yeah."

"Who's waiting for Jean-Blaze?" The other guy said at the same time. "Oh... Hi lil sis." Yeah these guys are raising the cringe factor much higher. I raised my hand in greeting, and looked past him to see if Blaze would come out this time.

"What are you guys doing standing out here?" Someone else came out of the same room and said that. Sounded like the speaker who was the one talking to Alpha Jacob.

"Oh, sorry sir. It looks like we are waiting for Jean-Blaze to be done." The first one to come out said.

"Why would you be..." The first guy stood aside and pointed to me sitting down in front of their door it would seem. "Oh, Hello there. I am Sergeant Tristan Mbebe. You must be one of Jean-Blaze's sisters." He said offering me his hand to shake. I took it and got up using his hand.

"Hi, I'm Mary-Katheryn, nice to meet you." At my name Sergeant Tristan dropped my hand and they all stiffened and stood taller. As if at attention.

"Pleasure to meet you ma'am." said Sergeant Tristan. Well out fly the normal. I went back down to sit and wait for my brother and they acted as if something was wrong.

"Wait ma'am let me go get you a chair." The first guy said and rushed off while the others just stood at my sides as if guarding my sides. This just got weirder. I wasn't even fast enough to tell that guy not to bother with the chair, he was gone so fast. When he came back I was sitting on the chair before words could leave my mouth again. Damn these guys are fast for their sizes.

"Thanx for the chair guys. I'll just wait for my brother, so you can do what you came here to do." I said trying to hint that they should leave and not stay here. But I think my hint went over their heads.

The door opened again, and I tried to ignore the three on my side and focus on who came out the door. I started to smile but it dropped when another guy who is not my brother came out. "Hey gorgeous, why you sitting there?" The guy coming out said and before I could answer the door opened again.

"Warrior!" Tristan shouted from my right, which caught the attention of the rest of the warriors who were now all coming out of the room. At the sharp call, all the warriors trooped out even my brother,  but I was afraid to go to him now because I didn't understand what got Sergeant Tristan to be angry at them, or is he agitated. Whatever. It made me stay put, to wait for them to leave so I can talk to my brother. "We may have found a way to save our hides and calm the Prince, all at once boys." The warriors all looked at him like he had the recipe to the best cake out there.

"Meet Mary-Katheryn Dlamini. Jean-Blaze's sister." He said that like it was supposed to mean something. When I looked up, I found the warriors looking at me with hope, well except for my brother who was scowling.

"No, we are not taking her with us. He will be a danger to her right now." Jean-Blaze said to Sergeant Tristan. That perked up my ears. He was leaving again? "Maybe after he gains control of his powers, but not before that."

"What Powers? Jean-Blaze are you leaving again?" I said getting up from my chair. Not caring that my tears are falling again in front of these men. "Are you leaving me behind again?" I said advancing on him.

"MK, I'm sorry honey, but I have to. There is a war brewing and I have to go with the Royal Guards to train with them and get stronger. That way I will be strong enough to get the pack back from our stepfather. But for now, you are safe here." He said and looked to his friends for help.

"Safe..." I laughed a little. "You want to keep me safe by leaving me behind." I looked up at him and he gasped and everyone took a step back from me. "Well, let me tell you what happens when you leave us behind." I said as wind picked up and the rustling of branches was heard.

"Not this again! Jean-Blaze calm her down!" Sergeant Tristan said.

I took a step towards my brother. "Our stepfather, the person you left us with. Mates us off to the Red Moon Pack. I was supposed to mate with Alpha Dominic. DOMINIC!" A window breaks somewhere.

"Geez man Jean-Blaze. Are you some kind of a trigger for them?!" The guy who came out first says.

"I HAD TO SPEND 2 WHOLE WEEKS NOT TALIKNG TO MY SISTER." My next step I felt like I was walking on air. The guys were all moving out of the hall to the entry way and my brother was slowly backing away from me in that direction too.

"Where's the wind coming from? Oh my..." Ms. Nomonde looked through the hall to see me stalking my brother.

"THEN WHEN I FINALY HAD A PLAN ON HOW TO GET HER TO LISTEN TO ME. ALPHA DOMINC KIDNAPS ME TO HIS PACK!" He keeps slowly backing away from me, but he is not showing the fear that the others are showing. He looks like he's just listening to me throw a tantrum.

"Warrior lead her outside." Jean-Blaze looks at the speaker and so do I. Olivia is awake.

"DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT ALPHA DOMINIC'S ROOM LOOKS LIKE!" That seems to snatch back my brother's attention. And he growls.

"UH UH. YOU DONT GET TO BE ANGRY. I MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RUN AND EXCAPE ALPHA DOMINIC, BUT ROSE IS STILL THERE!" That deflated me a little, and my eyes dropped to the floor. My feet looked like they were floating above the soil outside. Oh that cool, we are outside and I'm floating. "Rose and mother are still there. You talk about protecting us, then leave us with a man who said he would kill my mate if I didn't mate with Alpha Dominic." I looked at my brother, he looked like he was in pain. "I met my mate. Did you know that. His name is Jason Sithole... oh wait... we called you and you didn't pick up the phone." Some of the people surrounding gasped at that.

"He went missing a week before I ran away from Alpha Dominic, Did you know. ..Still getting your voice mail." I fall to the ground now crying. The wind as well has stopped. "I walked for hours... hours. Scared Alpha Dominic would find me. Hoping to find a place that would shelter me from the elements, and I did." This time I feel and see the tree roots and vines coming towards me, and covering me in a warm and safe blanket. "The Alpha of this clan may hate me, but he protected me better than you have brother. He never left me behind." I say those last words then the roots and vines cover me whole.
