Chapter 10

Mary-Katheryn

I turn to see Jacob coming around a conner. "No, I'm just going for my morning run." I lie hoping he'll let me leave as soon as possible, seeing as he didn't want me here yesterday.

"Oh, if you're going for a run then I will join you." He says as he walks towards me. "I need to get in my second run and keep an eye on you." He says as he starts to jog in place.

I look at him with a little frown. "Why would you want to keep an eye on me." I say a little agitated. I was doing what he wanted, i was leaving and never coming back. Why stop me cause I know he figured I was leaving.

"As indlunkulu pointed out yesterday, not anyone can easily find this place. So I'm gonna stick to you like white on rice until I figure out how you got in here." He says smirking at me.

I turn around and open the door. "Fine with me, just don't talk I run to think, and won't be able to concentrate if you talk to me." I say walking out and starting a light jog.

As I'm jogging along the woods, my thoughts drift to my sister. I wonder what is happening with her. If she's okay, or did our stepfather already push her to mate with Dominic's brother, because he might be afraid she'd do the same thing as me.

"Who are you running from?" Says Jacob as he runs beside me.

I ignore him and think about how I'm going to find my mate. I still haven't seen him since the parade. Where I publicly denounced him, and acted as if someone else was my mate. I cringe a little at the memory.

"I'm so sorry Jason." I think to myself. I really need to find him. I need to know what happened to him. How could someone disappear without a trace.

"How were you able to find our pack house?" Jacob asks again. I try to ignore him again, but he says something else I'm only able to catch partially. "...Royal wolf... ...mate... ...dead..." he mutters to himself.

"Sorry, I didn't catch that?" I slow down a little to hear him clearly.

"I asked how you were able to get to our pack house." He says stopping and staring at me now.

"Why is it such a big deal that I saw your house?" I pause a little waiting for his answer. When he doesn't give me one and just looks at me funny I continue. "I was asking about what you muttered after that, about Royal wolves, mates and death. What does that mean?"

"Nothing in particular" he says, "but since i now have your attention, tell me, how did you find the house?" He says while his eyes look at me with scrutiny.

"I..." there's a sound of moving in the forest. "Did you hear that." I whisper to him.

He looks around and comes back to me. "Forest animal. You were saying?"

"I don't..." now i hear like the sound was of feet running through the forest coming towards us. "Come on what animal doesn't know how to be quiet in the forest." I whisper yell at him.

He looks at me weirdly then say. "A monkey. It does not know how to be quite. Continue the house?" He prompts me.

I turn to start jogging back, because I don't believe him. "What is your deal about your stupid house, when it sounds like we are being stocked by a group of people running towards us?" I say as i start a full out run back to the house.

I ran five passes before he roughly stops me, and i fall on my butt. "What are you talking about? There is no-one in the forest but us. And the house is special. So how did you, a commoner, find its mage-, find it." He looks at me impatiently now.

"Look, i don't know what's wrong with your ears, but there are people coming towards us in the forest. So we gotta move." I say trying to get up and rubbing my sore butt.

He grabs me again and pushes me roughly on a tree. He looks at me menacingly. "The house?" He looks me straight in the eye. Trying to command the answer from my wolf.

I start panicking because, the sounds of many feet are here now just surrounding us now. But there is an opening where I don't hear feet. So when he releases me I'm going to go through there.

"It called to me okay. Now we have to move their here, watching us." I whisper to him hoping it does not carry to them.

"How can it call to you?" He continues ignoring what i said. I try to edge away to the opening,  but he stops me. "I said how?"

"I don't know, i saw the house's glow and felt like i was supposed to go there. Now please lets go." I whisper yell again. Still hoping it does not carry.

He lets go of me and starts pacing. I take that chance to run to the opening. As i near  the opening between feet, in my peripheral vision i saw a black willowy figure step out into the open.

"Mani." A voice says in my head. My wolf whines and tells me to stop. "Ngitse mani." The voice says with more command.

This time my wolf doesn't just whine, she takes over my body. it's so painful I think she's going to make me shift, but she just stops and turns me around to face the black clad figure behind me.

"Is something wrong?" Jacob says looking at me like I've lost my mind. The black figure beside him comes closer to him and merges with him.

Jacob comes towards me with a darker shadow. When he looks at me, it's with white glowing eyes. "Ndlovukazi." He says and bows to me.

I look at him and look at the other figures starting to show themselves as well. They all bow and say the same thing. "Ndlovukazi".

As this continues my panic stops a little, enough for me to speak. "What does that mean?" I whisper to Jacob.

He looks up at me with the glowing eyes and says. "Siyabonga ukufika kwakho." Then bows again.

I start to get a little scared again. Looking around i see that they are surrounding me now. "Please I don't understand you." I say backing away. Looking for an opening.

Jacob straightens and offers his hand to me. "Ngicela uhambe natsi."

I look at his offered hand then look back at him. I shake my head a little. "Not happening with those eyes Alpha Jacob." I fully turn around trying to find openings in the black shadows with white eyes.

This is bad they are moving closer to where i am. I put my hand out in a stop sign and close my eyes. "Please don't come any closer to me." I hear no movements now.

"Ndlovukazi usengotini. Buya." Jacob says shaking the offered hand.

"No." I say to Jacob. "Please snap out of it Alpha Jacob. We need to go." I say backing away further.

He scrutinizes me with those white eyes then starts humming, then the others join in as well. It becomes this beautiful melody building to a crescendo.

I look at them mesmerized by the song and their glowing hands. As the humming continues the glow gets brighter and brighter and the song louder and louder.

I close my eyes to the glow and try to cover my ears to the now deafening song, but it keeps building and building. Its like a soccer stadium on the steroids.

When not even my closed eyes can shield me from the bright light i hear one word.

And everything goes dark.

Jason

I'm now sitting in my room, thinking about what Blaze said. I remember someone in the pack mentioning a brother in passing but it can't be him.

Mary-Rose... There are many people in this world named Mary-Rose it doesn't have to be MK's twin sister. I'm going to sleep on it and see if i can get to the bottom of this tomorrow.

I wake up with a start. I look around to see what could have woken me up, but see nothing out of the ordinary. Then i hear the clang of pots and pans.

I go out to investigate what could be making that sound. I am greeted by the smell of bacon and when i look at the table, i see toast, bacon, eggs and orange juice.

I pinch myself to see if i am dreaming. "Nope, not dreaming."

"I wanted to thank you for last night, and every night before that." Blaze says coming from the corner with the stove. He sits and extends his hand to the sit opposite him. "I want to also say sorry, i know i haven't been the best person to be around." He says looking down. "If only my sister Mary-Rose could see me now." He mutters to himself. "What happened to my family makes me want to escape for a little while. But that does not mean i have to take you down with me. So i propose since i have nowhere to go. I stick with you and help you get your mate back." I look at him worry in my eyes.

"Why do you want to help me now?" I say with a little disbelieve.

"I need training for when i take my pack back. And going up against your pack will be good practice." He says a little darkly.

"But i wont be going up against my pack. I will just talk to the Alpha Family and ask for MK's hand." I see him flinch a little when i mention MK. "I will reason with the Alpha."

"Who put you in that cell next to me?" He asks me, making me flinch a little since it was my Alpha who tortured me in my cell.

"Okay, I get it, talking wont help." I say beginning to eat again. "But c*****e is not the answer." I continue. "Only the the Alpha did me wrong. I cant go up against the entire pack, those are my family and friends."

"What do you suppose then?" He says with a little too much force to his voice. "You know he wont give you your mate if he was willing to send you to that place. So tell me. What do you have besides talking to the man."

"Well I don't know yet." I defend my self. "I still need to go back home first so I'm sure I'll come up with something by then." I look at my food and keep eating.

"I'm so sorry Jason." I look up at Blaze after hearing that. He looks unfazed as if he didn't say anything. I look around us to make sure that no-one else is here.

"Did you say something?" I ask just to be sure.

"No... what? You hearing things now." He laughs at me.

I ignore him and keep on eating. I get up to take the dishes to the sink and get ready for work. "You coming to work with me today?"

"Yeah, as I said, I'm gonna start helping out." He says putting his own dishes in the washer.

"Ndlovukazi" I get startled and drop my dish.

"Did you say something man." I ask turning around looking for the source of the voices.

He looks at me funny and says, "Nah, you okay man?"

I start hearing humming that's building. "You mean you can't hear the noise?" I put my hands to my ears to try and block it out, but it keeps on increasing.

"Ahhhhhh" It's too much noise i can't help the scream.

Blaze rushes to me as I fall to the ground. "What's happening man. You're freaking me out." He cradles me since I'm rocking from side to side in the fetal position.

"It's too loud! I can't understand you." I scream to the voices.

Then everything goes dark.
