Chapter 20

2092 Words
Mary-Katheryn As soon as they were finished saying those words they both collapsed. Olivia was falling face first into me. Panicked I held my hands out to catch her and looked to Alpha Jacob for help, but he was still frozen looking at us. "Siphesihle, help me get her to the infirmary." I said and I tried to get up without throwing her down. "Zenzi get someone to take Oliver to the infirmary too." I kept struggling to get up and no-one was moving. "HEY, MOVE YOUR ASSES!" I shouted and that's when people started moving. We got both of them to the small infirmary they had in the clan house, and the clan doctor took it from there. "What happened in there? What was that about?" Alpha Jacob demanded of me. "Your guess is as good as mine." I said as I looked to the room where the doctor was checking them over. "This is a true blessing." "What? Mom, you know what happened?" Alpha Jacob asked Ms Nomonde and we both watched as she started to crying. "Ms Nomonde?" I asked cautiously, and she smiled while tears ran down her face. "This is truly a blessing." This time I noticed that she was looking at me as she said that. I took a step back and Alpha Jacob's head quickly looked from his mom to me, then back again. "What's the blessing mom? What just happened in that dining hall." "Oh Jacob, my son. Open your eyes and read the signs." She said still looking at me, the tears still rolling down her face. "What do you mean mom?" He said then he too looked at me. I turned and looked inside the room because their staring at me was making me nervous. Olivia was sitting up again and her eyes were white, looking at me again. She said something and collapsed. The doctor continued to hook them up to machines and check what is wrong with them. When he came out of the room sometime later, he looked a little puzzled. "Are they both okay? What happened to them?" I fired off my questions before he could even close the door to their room. "Yes they are fine." He said and started to leave. "Wait, when she got up the second time, wh... what did she say?" I took a deep breath because I wanted to know, but didn't want to know. The doctor looked at me and shook his head. "I'm sorry Miss, but I cant tell you that. You may talk to the Alpha after I'm done maybe he may tell you." The doctor said and kept walking. This again, how am I supposed to talk to that man. This clan just loves giving me headaches don't they. I started to leave but when I was about to close the door to the infirmary, Alpha Jacob called me back. He walked with me in silence to the doctors office. Once I sat down next to Ms Nomonde with Alpha Jacob standing behind me, he nodded to the doctor to begin. The doctor gave me a funny look but began to talk. "They are both okay. The check up I did shows them to be sleeping, but I could not wake them up. It seems to be a deep sleep. In the middle of my examination of their state. The woman woke up and said... Alpha?" The doctor stopped and looked at me. "Its okay doc. What did Olivia say." "If I remember correctly I believe she said 'He will come, you must trust them, because he will come.' then she collapsed. That's all I could get from examining them. They wont wake up until they are well rested." When the doctor finished I got up and left. Which 'he' did Olivia mean. Will my mate find me first or will Dominic. I turned the corner and saw Beta Nhlakanipho. Then I remembered that he interrupted me and Siphesihle in the garden and I was not able to ask her what those words meant. but Beta Nhlakanipho is my friend too so it wont be that bad if I asked him. "Beta Nhlakanipho please wait up." "Hey Kat. It's not training time." He said walking again. "I know. May I ask you a question and trust that it won't be repeated?" He quickly looked at me and narrowed his eyes at me. "If it does not harm the clan, then I promise to keep your secret." I chewed my bottom lip at that and decided what could I lose by saying a few words. "Can you translate these words for me please." "Ok, if I can." "Bats... Batsembe. Bathokhusita. I think that's it Batsembe. Batokusita. Can you tell me what they mean." He looked at me with a surprised face and said "Trust them. They will help you. That's what the words mean." he kept looking at me after that. I looked down. So the voices in my head believe I can trust these people to help me with Dominic if he comes. "Kat, where did you hear those words? Who are you supposed to trust to help you." I looked at him and decided to follow the advice of the voices, Maybe with just him for now, I'll think about the rest later. I took a deep breath and let it all out. "I'm supposed to trust Alpha Jacob and your clan to help me find my mate and save me from the Alpha who wants to force me into a mating." After saying that, I felt like a huge weight was just lifted from my shoulders. "I think we need to go talk to Alpha Jacob now." Beta Nhlakanipho said as he grabs my hand and takes me back the way I came. We pass the infirmary and go to the Alpha's office. Beta Nhlakanipho knocks on the door. "Come in Nhla." Alpha Jacob says with a warm tone. Once he sees Beta Nhlakanipho ushering me in. He sits up a little straighter in his chair. "What has she done now?" He says trying to go for funny but it falls flat with the strain in his voice. "You need to call mom here too." Beta Nhlakanipho says then sits down on the other chair. I sit as well as the Alpha makes the call and we wait for Ms Nomonde to come here. After the call the Alpha looks at me waiting for me to talk, and I look to Beta Nhlakanipho, who is also just staring at me, but his look is more thoughtful than penetrating like the Alpha's. I look around the office completely ignoring the both of them. If they want answers they can look else where because I don't have them. The door opens and Ms. Nomonde comes in. "What the emerg... Oh, what is going on here?" She says as Beta Nhlakanipho stands up to give her his chair. "Thanx son." Beta Nhlakanipho takes the chair that is at the computer desk and moves it to sit next to the Alpha so both of them are now facing me. "I asked you guys here because I think Kat is ready to tell us her story." Says Beta Nhlakanipho. I take a sharp breath and look at him. That is not what I went to him for. I'm not ready to tell them anything. Why would he put me on the spot like this? "I believe you are mistaken. I never said such a thing." I say looking down not wanting to look into the penetrating stares of all of them. Beta Nhlakanipho take a deep breath. "Okay, let me start you off then. You barged into our clan house in the dead of night and scared us nearly to death thinking the enemy has found a way passed our defences. You know nothing about us, don't seem to have a connection to us but somehow got passed a magical barrier that allows only blood bonded clan members to cross, and if you are not a blood bonded clan member you need a special amulet given only to guardians, and you don't have that amulet too. Then on your coming days staying with us. You went to the forest and came back catatonic from voices only you heard." He stopped and took a breath. I wish he wouldn't finish this rendition of my exploits here. And what is this about guardians. I havent seen guards here so far. Even the warriors under the Alpha and Beta were a small number. So what is he talking about? "Which you still will not tell us what they said to you. Then in your spare time you managed to read one of our Ancient books about the royals and how they came to be. A book I might add that cannot be read by anyone, only the royal family and their ambassadors or council if you will. Then while the shock of you reading the book was not over, the Queen Mage spoke a prophecy right after touching you, and not just one, but two prophecies. Would you like to cut in at anytime and tell us what is going on?" He said the last part and tapped the table to get my attention. Wow... Olivia is the Queen Mage. Magicians are usually very secretive about themselves, no-one knows anything about them. How can they have a queen when there are no Royals in this day and age. They were all whipped out thousands of years ago, by the Hades movement. A bunch of people believing they were sent by the god of death to take out the 'oppressive' Royal Families. Their belief being that everyone should be accountable for themselves not always looking to the Royals. Is that where the writer of the book I was reading got her story. From those ancient Royals families. I think I get it a little now. If Olivia is the Queen Mage, how come no-one in the world knows about her, or her family for that matter. Someone from a Royal family touched...  *cough cough* I looked up at the cough to Alpha Jacob. "Would you care to finish the tale Nhla started? Or better yet start at the beginning." I couldn't tell them yet, there were still some puzzles I wanted to piece up together first before I told them. Some things were still not adding up. Ms Nomonde took my hand. "Its okay honey. I don't know what my boys were thinking ambushing you like this." She looked at said boys while speaking to me. "We said we would give you time and that's what we will do." She patted my hand and made to stand up. "You were told to trust us. For us to help you." Ms Nomonde sat down as Beta Nhlakanipho said that. She looked at him then back at me, when she saw I wasn't saying anything she looked to her son. "Who told her to trust us son? Was she helped into our land? What are we supposed to help you with?" She finished her questions looking at me when no-one else answered her. I was looking at Beta Nhlakanipho and he at me. We were staring at each other. "What's going on bro?" Alpha Jacob was looking at his brother during our staring contest. "Why does she need help from us? How do you know that?" "She came to me and asked me to translate what those voices in her head keep telling her." We heard running in the hallway, but that was not unusual. "Get this, the voices are speaking to her in siSwati. Our language." Both Alpha Jacob and Ms Nomonde made an audible gasp after hearing that and quickly faced me for answers. At that point someone knocked on the Alpha's office door. "We are busy, come back later." Alpha Jacob shouted without taking his eyes off me. The knocking continued. "What the hell! I said come back later!" "I'm sorry Alpha but we have a problem outside." Someone shouted through the door. That seemed to get the Alpha's attention. He got up and opened the door for the warrior who looked to be out of breath. "What is going on outside Kay?" "We seem to have more visitors Alpha, and they would like to talk to you." I thought this clan didn't get visitors. I guess their magical barrier truly is broken. ***** Translation Batsembe. Batokusita. = Trust them. They will help you
