“LET ME GUESS, YOU’VE been arrested.”
“Not even close, Justice.” I smiled at my cousin’s face on the laptop screen.
“If you rear-ended somebody, it’s your own fault,” Justice continued.
Ever since he started working at a legal practice that catered to low-income residents of New York City, it was hard to get his head out of the law. So I made an effort to engage at his level. “I didn’t rear-end anybody.”
“Unexpected custody issues?”
I winced. “Justice.” His guess this time was a little too close to the truth.
