Chapter 16 THE RISING SUN NEARLY blinded me when I glanced back to see Luke following in lupine form. I tensed, half expecting him to shoulder bump me off my path in solidarity with his sister. Instead, he fell in behind, slithering through the wolf hatch one moment after I did. Together, we hightailed it for the cover of trees. Because, if a lone wolf was showing off Luke’s niece at the front gate, the most likely location for his compatriots was the small dip just west of the gatehouse. It was a known danger point...and, as such, had been worked into several of our pack’s defensive plans.
