Chapter 2

I was so pressed I thought I might explode so I made a dramatic leap to the loo, abandoning my thoughts midstream. The closer I got to the loo the more the pressure kept on squeezing my bladder. A banging sound was heard the time I rocked open the toilet door as I hopped onto the toilet seats to release myself from the pressure. I couldn’t wait to get back at the dance floor as I wanted to show off my new dance moves and of course as a way of getting rid of stress inorder to vibrate at a higher frequency . “Arranged marriage is not for the weak” , my inner voice whispered . I rushed back as soon as I was done .One clumsy collision later ,my phone, my purse, and I were all on the floor. He bent down at the same time and just like in the movies our hands reached over my phone, our eyes locking in the most inconveniently perfect moment. It was like the universe just tripped me to make us fall for each other. I lost my memory for a while then I blink twice. My heart raced from do - do - do to doo dooo dooo dooo doo at a faster pace , when I realized it was the same sexy guy I saw earlier on at the beach shore . His eyes glittered with remorse as he gently straightened my hand and fingers , checking if I was hurt . He kept apologizing . Little did he know that I had already lost focus , not from the accident but from the warmth of his touch . There was something strange in his apology like He wasn’t only sorry for bumping into me. His voice carried a weight I couldn’t place ,but my heart insisted I listened. I snapped out of daydreaming when my inner voice reminded me that I am an alpha woman, alpha woman do not crumble. We stay feminine, yet firm .With grace I slowly slipped away my little hand from his larger one my expression saying more than words could ; apology accepted. He let out a quiet breath, his gaze still heavy with apology. “I’m truly sorry for what happened,” he said, his voice low and sincere. “It’s unfortunate that our paths had to cross this way, but perhaps it’s better late than never, my name is Mark.” The decency in his introduction earned him an apology. I steadied my breath and met his gaze. “Hi, Mark. My name is Nomsa. It’s nice to meet you.” “ Will you allow me to buy you a drink or two as my way of showing you how sorry I am”.He muttered ,his deep and nonchalant voice yet carrying subtle , seductive pull . I brushed an invincible speck of sand from my arm,a subtle signal that I wasn’t clinging on to the accident. “Trust me, you don’t owe me a drink I said with a teasing smile arching one brow” . My body leaned back just slightly, holding my ground while still letting the air between a sparkle. He didn’t bare the way I brushed off his offer so easily. It unsettled him as though defeat wasn’t a language that he spoke. “ No , no ma’am ,” he said with a half smile shaking his head . “ Please allow me to take you for a drink. He leaned close his voice low yet insistent . He’s insistence lingered in the air warm and unyielding. I soon realized he wasn’t the type to retreat at the first or second no . With a sigh soften by smile, I let down my guard “Perhaps one or two drinks, wont hurt my pride after all”.So I surrender not in weakness, but in curiosity, allowing fate to lead me towards the bar by his side. Just before we got at the bar , my phone interrupted the awkward silence between us. Not my heart, skipping a beat thinking it was my husband calling to tell me he’s watching me since he has spies all over the world. I released a long breath when my glance met the phone screen only to find out it was Annie calling . “ excuse me I have to take this,” as I walked away to answer the call. “Hello,”I sighed my eyes dancing towards heaven. “ hey girl , a minute ago I thought you had pulled off one of your stunts of leaving without a goodbye only to see you walk sideways with Mr. handsome. We saw earlier today., Annie giggled mischievously. I’m behind you. Go have fun. The first thing I saw as i tilted my head over my shoulder was in Annie’s teeth and her glittery dress. Her smile was the sun , she raised her hand swinging it side ways ,then she hung up. “ yeah hey , she got me . I just gave her some stupid reason to tease me all year long” . I murmured as I walked elegantly to mark at the bar . “Oh boy ,what do we have here?” I exclaimed, clapping my hands together, eyebrows arching high, eyes wide with disbelief. “ I know I know it’s a bit rude getting shooters without your concern he said, flashing a sly smile . “ but come on. It’s a Friday. Will you have these with me? I hesitantly picked the shooter glass , “ here we go” I smiled back with a heart filled of joy. “ oh God what’s happening. Isn’t it a little disturbing that this guy got the 1942 Don Julio that I love. Is he reading my mind or something. What if he’s my soulmate? I giggled secretly to myself as I kept my eyes on him, pretending casual interest, while my mind raced . After sipping the tequila, I could feel its sharp aroma rising through my nose while the smooth icy liquid slid down my throat, spreading warmth through my chest, and into my bloodstream .It hit my system almost instantly tapping into my dopamine and sending a sudden delightful rush through me . Mark leaned closer , a smile tugging at his lips. “ what would you like to drink ,” He asked . “ a shaken margarita, please ,”I replied, feeling a flatter of excitement at the casual intimacy of the moment. He grinned as if he was reading my mind and ordered the same exact drink . “Make it two Margarita please ,” he said his never leaving mine Tsk-shh tsk-shh The cocktail shakers danced in the bartenders hands , rattling out a hypnotic rhythm that made every eye in the bar dance .
