Pain, all she can feel is the pain.
'It has always been like this,' Diane thought. Ever since she's little, she felt that there's something missing.
A hole deep inside her that cannot be filled by anything, not even the love that her brother gave nor her friends.
'Brother and friends...'
Another pang of pain hits her when she remembered her friends and their betrayal. Despite that, she doesn't want to include her brother in it but there's a high possibility that he's also involved in their schemes. For what? She doesn't know.
Although there were hints when she was captured about her blood and mana... which is confusing since she's human and mana is a fictional concept of wielding power which is what Arcana always read to her during her spare time, she never even thought that mana is real. She wouldn't even have thought that this mana would do anything to her life that would put a great impact.
Weirdly enough, this mana stuff is not freaking her out in any way... which she believes that she should. It is indeed odd that deep inside her, there's also a small part of her subconscious that believes in this magical mana thingy.
And it is nagging on her that she needs mana right now, it is a very special mana. One that her mate must provide, or else her body will succumb to its illness and die.

"Diane..." Theo said as he watches the two men attend to her.
Despite being shocked, both Lindon and Jasper continue their focus on the girl. They all can see her hurting as she cries out loud and whimpers out of agony.
"Do something!" Lindon shouts out of frustration, making Jasper glared at him.
"Don't shout!" Jasper unconsciously shouts, making Lindon wanting to retort but Jasper quickly seals his lips with his hand. "And I already told you, I didn't see anything wrong with her so I don't know how to ease her pain. Whatever is happening to her, is out of my capabilities. All we have to do is to be patient."
That is all Jasper could say as he continually rubs her back. They only could only watch the girl as she whimpers and cry throughout her pain.
"There's really nothing we can do?" Theo asks. He couldn't hold it any longer as he continues to watch her in pain. "Don't you have any medicine? Anything?"
Both cousins guilty look at him.
"We don't have that kind of treatment as we didn't have any kind of illnesses untreatable from our magic." Lindon answers. He didn't add that they get sick less or none at all because of their different genetics to handle their powers.
"And this only happened for the first time. Plus, you won't be able to buy any medicine outside since we live a little bit far from the city or any locality." Jasper adds.
They're in a pinch of what to do.
"....hurts." that one whisper from the pitiful girl had all of their hearts crushed to tiny pieces.
"Diane?" Theo immediately went inside, kneels down near the bed, and grabs her hand.
"Aaah!" The moment he touched her hand Diane instantly let out an ear-piercing scream and immediately, Theo retracts his hand like it's been scalded by hot water.
He immediately looks at his hand and his hand has a pinkish-red burn like he touched a burning iron with his bare hand. Theo looks back at his sister's hand but found nothing on it.
"What did you just do?!" Jasper shouts at him
"I don't know, okay?! I just touched her hand!" Theo shouts back. "I just wanted to help her ease her pain."
"Fine, then no one is allowed to touch her. Until we find out what is happening to her."
The three of them just stood there, watching the poor girl wailing and screaming in pain. Not knowing what to do.

In the pitch-black surrounding that she's in along with the pain that she's suffering from, Diane suddenly sees a small light hovering over her.
At first, it was circling her around, like it's assessing her or something. Then it stops right above her face and then the white light changed to gold and then slowly having wisps of pink. Like a burning fire but in a different color.
"Not everything that you see, my child, is what you think it seems." the voice she hears seems to calm her. Easing her pain, helping her have a clear mind to understand whatever this voice is saying. "In time, you will understand but now you must not be fooled by your feelings. For it will become a hindrance of you understanding everything that is happening in your life."
'Then what do you think I must do? They all betrayed me, they made a fool of me, mistreated my trust and love like a piece of invaluable rock. To be thrown away after it had its use.'
"You have to see it for yourself and re-evaluate. If you will not then you will lose the ones who are genuine forever."
Those words haunt me deep in my soul. I knew that something was missing, I felt it deep inside me. Yet I couldn't stand up to even ask, to investigate. I was afraid, afraid to know the truth. Afraid to know everything.
I am a coward.
"Everyone has their fears and weaknesses, making them do questionable things."
'You can read my mind?'
"That is for me to know and for you to find out." The voice said with a small laugh. "Before I go, I have a gift for you, my dear. I hope you will enjoy this small gift reunion gift of mine."
'Reunion? Gift? Wait! Who are you even? I thought you were just my consciousness or something part of me!'
"How I wish that be true, then we could do all the mischievous things we can think! Unfortunately, we are but two different souls so we can't be together." The voice said in a sad but teasing tone. "Time's up! I'll be off now and here is my gift to you, my dear lost soul."
