Chapter 8

1124 Words
“What do you MEAN she’s missing?” “I meant what I said. She’s MISSING. Or do you need me to spell it out for you? She’s KIDNAPPED.” Two voices are screaming on top of each other, trying to dominate each sentence with their loud voices imbued with anger. “Well did you even try to REPORT this to the AUTHORITIES?” “Are you DUMB? You CAN’T report this to the authorities! She’s NOT even listed as my sister or anyone’s relative!” “Well, that’s just GREAT! What do you want us to do then? Sit here and pray until our hairs turn gray!? That’s BS!” Sebyl just sat in the corner, watching the two argue. Since their parents were away for their job, they have the house to their own. It’s been only five minutes when Theo came into their house. Clothes dirty and a little bit tattered but what had them more concerned was his stone-cold and murderous face. When they asked what happened to him… this was the result. “I knew it!” Cecil exclaims. Banging her clenched fist in her armchair. “That person is a two-faced b***h! I’m gonna kill her once I see her!” Sebyl sighs, going near his sister to calm her down. He looks at Theo who is now sitting on one of the couches. Head buried in his hands. “I tried finding her since I felt something wrong during my trip to my job. I’ve been sending voice messages whenever I can and I get back a reply almost instantly whenever she’s not busy or asleep. But she hasn’t replied to my last voice message and that had me. I immediately ditched everything and tried to get back here as soon as possible… yet I was too late.” “You can’t blame yourself, bro. We’re living next to the most remote place here in the land of maples.” “i***t, that’s miles away from where we are!” Cecil says, glaring at her twin brother beside her. “Ehehe… I was just trying to make a light conversation…” Cecil snorts, shaking her head at the blabbering i***t. “Thanks, thanks, but I don’t wanna think about the coldest place to live in this already cold country.” As the twins begin to bicker, Theo suddenly stands up. Making the siblings stop and look at him. “Bro, bro, are you okay?” Sebyl asks. He didn’t reply. Just took his phone inside his pocket and began typing away like a madman. The twins look at each other. Curiosity glazed in their eyes as they watch their friend pace back and forth typing on his phone crazily. “Do you think he snapped?” Sebyl whispered. “Probably… maybe…” was all Cecil said before continuing to watch their friend who’s now sitting back to his chair. “I know where she is.” Theo finally said. “Alert.” “I know that my joke was not funny and all but why there?” Sebyl confusedly asked. “It’s the place where those bastards put their illegal experiments… why do you think it has less than ten occupants there?” Theo said, looking the twins in the eye. This made the twins look at him seriously. This kind of situation is indeed dangerous. They knew how Theo hates the Council despite not knowing the reason. They only knew that it’s deep and that the Head Councilor is using him for his secretive work. They only befriended Arcana just because she stuck to Theo like glue and also because they can’t disrespect her, regarding her position as the daughter of the Head Councilor. “Why is she there Theo?” Cecil asks. Clenching her hands to fists, nervousness, and fear clouds over her. Sebyl immediately holds his sister’s hand, squeezing it. Trying to reassure her as they both wait for their friend’s reply. Theo exhales, watching the two of them comforting one another… getting envious for a second before reigning in his emotions. ‘This is not the time, idiot.’ He corrects himself. Knowing that it’s not the time for him to be emotional at this state. He needs to plan on how to get in there before it will be too late. It’s been three days now, and he’s getting more desperate as the clock ticks by. *** Diane can now feel that whatever they’ve done to her, it’s taking all of her strength away. Since that time when she woke up to whatever that they were doing to her, she’s been forced to sleep after waking up for only two to three hours. After that, she’s just becoming weaker and weaker despite being asleep to longer hours that she doesn’t know. Her speculation is that once she sleeps, they come in to do whatever they’ve been doing to her. Even if she’s half deaf, she heard it in a drowning state of voices whatever they’ve been doing to her in the first place. “We need more blood.” “Wouldn’t this kill her?” “Nah man, we’ve already done an analysis with her bones, skin, hair, and blood. We believe that she’s not human with those high mana particles. It’s just like that she’s one of them.” “If she’s one of them then… what kind of specie is she?” “Still unknown. Despite those test subjects that we have, she’s different among them.” “Well, this is new.” “Yup.” ‘Experiment. They’ve been experimenting on me. For what? For how long? Does Theo know? ...when will it stop?' With the last thought, she moves her teeth to bite more than her lower lip. She needs to feel the pain, to try and console herself as much as possible. “If you do that, you’ll be going to bite your lip off.” That familiar voice echoes in her ear. A clear indication that this person knows how to use the spell her brother uses only for her. “…Cana.” Diane said in relief mixed with anger. “I finally found you. It was troublesome you know?” her friend said… or was it all her imagination. Diane now knew that it was her, it was Arcana who had her abducted… and it hurt her. “Hate me all you want,” Arcana said. “It won’t change anything.” “…why? Just tell me why…” Diane asks. Trying to not get emotional. “I’m doing it for him. You won’t understand nor remember after I’ll explain everything to you… and I don’t want to either since it’s too much of an effort. I already found where you are and took the initiative to talk to you for a while. This is enough for me.” “Then… why are you here? You’re not going to save me either.” Diane states making Arcana chuckle. “Of course not. It’s his job, not mine.” Arcana said before walking away. Diane can hear everything that she does, not knowing the reason for it. “This is my goodbye present to you… just because,” Arcana said before opening the door and walk out of the room. Not even closing it. A second later, there’s a distinct loud sound came from outside of her room. She can now hear the building shaking, making her ears sensitive to every sound that’s now coming off in every direction. ‘What’s happening!?’
