Diane's body feels heavy. She somehow can't move and she also feels weak. Very weak... as to what she truly is.
Memories came through her mind in a flash. One after another, coming and passing like the sound of a bee flying above you in a rush.
"Hmm? Is missy~chan going to cry?"
A deep voice came out of nowhere. From his tone, it seems that he's teasing her.
"...no." She said. Inhaling deeply, trying not to cry.
The man laughed; loud, unrestrained, happy, and free. He is a boisterous individual. He reminds her of someone...
"Sebyl..." she unconsciously whispered.
"Hmm?" The man questions, confused.
"...nothing."
"Huh. You're quite the silent one, aren't you? ...just like my moody cousin. He's quite like that."
"..." Diane kept silent after that.
She doesn't want to talk anymore nor has the initiative to think about anything at the moment.
'Uwah...' Jasper thought. Scratching his head and his face dumbfounded. Not knowing what to do.
Usually, he talks a lot and mostly about random stuff. His cousin who's mostly silent and can only have a straight face could only listen. Lindon can comment once or twice about his ramblings but that's just it. He won't talk unless it's on his agenda of businesses, literally or not.
Yet somehow in front of Missy-chan, he seems to not have the ability to make even a light conversation. Even if he's going to talk mostly about random things just like what he's been doing to his cousin. It seems like she won't really respond to whatever he'll do. Aside from that, she's also rather...
'The Missy seems too... gloomy.'
The aura that she has is too dark that he doesn't have the gall to talk anything to lighten the mood.
'Whatever happened to her, it seems like it's too serious and deep to treat it as light. This seems tough.' He thought.
"How is she?" Lindon's voice suddenly echoes inside his head. Making him off guard.
"Wah!" Jasper exclaims hairs at the back of his head jump along with him. Embarrassing himself in the process.
Diane stares at him with her grey, almost white eyes. Her head tilts to the left, making a rather cute gesture.
And then it clicked, his lips made a cunning smile.
'Geh! You fool! Stop it! You made me embarrass myself in front of her!' Jasper scolds his cousin.
"Huh?! What did I do? You're the stupid one since you do stupid things that make you stupid!"
'Haaaaa?! What's that supposed to mean? Your logic seems stupid, making you the stupid one among us!'
The cousin's internal argument made Jasper unconsciously respond with his body. His hard stomping at the floor along with unknown noises coming from his mouth, making Diane laugh.
"Pfft~" Diane tried to cover her laughter but it was futile.
Jasper ignored his cousin who's still argue with him, smiling at the laughing girl. But it was only a second since he realized...
'M-masaka* (translation: could it be/no way)... she's laughing at me!?' This thinking made him dreadful and hate Lindon.
"Aaaaah!! Lindon you idioooot!!" Jasper shouted, kneeling dramatically down the floor... and cursing his cousin at the same time killing him in his mind a hundred times.
'Ihateyou! Ihateyou! Ihateyou! Ihateyou! Ihateyou!' Is his mantra towards the man he hates, specifically his cousin.
"Hey! Keep it together you fool! What's happening to you!? Have you lost your mind already? Do you want me to put you in an asylum?"
'Kuros*! Imma kill you once you get here!' He promised.
As the two keeps on fighting, Diane keeps on laughing as she can imagine all of it and the man whom she can hear rolling around the carpeted floor. The image in her mind is too funny that she laughs harder, clutching her stomach.
'Gaaaaaah!' Jasper exclaimed in his mind with his mouth agape. 'Keh... Lindon, from now on I am no longer your cousin. I'm disowning you!'
"Idiot... then get out of my property. Be my slave then since I've taken back my company and you don't have any money to pay me back everything you've taken from me. From the lodging, clothes, and food that you've eaten. Pay them back one by one."
"Nooooooooo!" Jasper shouted, his voice echo throughout the room.
"Shut up, i***t!" Lindon exclaims. Punching hard at the head of his cousin. His screaming was loud that Lindon's entry wasn't heard.
"That hurts, i***t! Stop bullying me!" Jasper whined. Making Lindon punch his head a second time.
***
"Well? How is she?" Lindon asked.
After his cousin's comedic performance, Lindon got a little nervous. Making him halt his work and decided to rush home... only to see that his cousin is just being an i***t.
Comedy aside, Jasper had taken care of the little miss while she was unconscious and he was out to work.
Jasper's power is Earth magic, meaning he can do healing spells and anything that's connected with nature.
"..." Jasper couldn't answer him nor look straight at his eyes. Making him annoyed.
"Just tell me already! It's not that bad is it?"
Jasper made a straight smile, his eyes serious. During his comedic act, he had done a quick scanning of the girl. He couldn't do it while she was asleep or awake since she was too guarded. Her walls that were made through her conscience was too thick that he couldn't do anything.
That's why he provoked Lindon... and his cousin who was so oblivious was late to catch up to his plan.
"...her mana particles are slowly dropping. That's why her senses are blocked to the point of... her life being in danger at the moment. If you haven't seen her when she was in the forest, she might've died there and then. It wasn't only the fact that her body got experimented but also her emotional state is unstable. Even now."
The revelation made Lindon speechless.
"Not only that, but it also seemed that she drank potions that made her like that. And it wasn't just weeks or a month, she drank that potion for years resulting in her current condition. The reason that I could only think of is due to her high level of mana particles." Jasper continued. "I don't know her original mana count but I can assume that it's high for a human... it's probably because of it that it made her life in danger."
'In other words, someone was hiding her on purpose until she got captured and was experimented on.' Lindon mused.
His hands clenched. The bitterness and anger he feels for the girl who's now resting inside her room is imaginable.
Both cousins felt pity for the girl.
"All we can do now is to monitor her vitals. I cannot flush out the aftereffects of the potion that she drank because it had been years but... if she can absorb mana particles around, she may survive a year more or so." Jasper concluded.
This only made it more complicated for them. They have a mission to complete, now that they've encountered a pinch that's not on their agenda. It puts them in a bind.
"Let's do what you've just said. But it's her choice whether she wants to continue living or not. It's her call, we're not obligated to save her further of she chose death." Lindon said.
After the two cousins made their plan, they moved forward to their main agenda.
